There are way too many students all over the world today that are overweight, and even obese. A major way to reduce or eliminate these numbers would be to get more participation in high school athletics. Sports do not only provide a healthier body, but also teaches lessons for later on in life, not just good body health. It helps students learn to accept others, and also learn how to face tough decisions like adversity. Another big skill students would learn is how to accept others no matter what gender, race, or ethnicity. High school students should be mandated to participate in a sport in order to promote a healthy lifestyle. In the United States, teens are overweight, obesity has been greatly increasing. Schools should promote athletics as much as possible. The more kids that play a sport, the healthier the society can become. For example, if a teen has a serving of fruits or veggies, they tend to say that they already had their amount for a day, when in reality you need much more than that. The emotion is intense. Everyone in the gym is on the edge of his or her seat. Time is expiring as the final shot for the win sails through the air. The buzzer sounds… Athletics are a critical element of high school lives--whether it be playing for or supporting one’s team. In order to accomplish success in a season, these supporting individuals are forced to rely on a select few of premier athletes. From day one of tryouts, these athletes are crafted and molded based on their hard work as well as their ability to play in accordance with the coach’s style. At a varsity level, where victory has his or her job on the line, coaches should not be required to play every member of the team equally.
For some people sports is just a game, to athletes it is their life. According to the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) an athlete can only participate in their own school’s sports or club sports (OHSAA). This means at New Knoxville Local School, my school, my brother or any other athlete won’t be able to play football while attending school at New Knoxville. My intention is to make it possible to go to school at one place, but play sports at another school.

This reoccurring event has led many to believe that the four year football program puts GSL students at a disadvantage compared to other districts. You may think that gaming is just a hobby yet gamers can possibly get paid more than a regular athlete. Gamers can also get a college scholarship from gaming. It has the same intensity level as regular sports do. By now almost everyone has heard about child obesity in America, but just how high are the rates? The answer might surprise you. In our society today one of the most difficult problems we are facing is the large numbers of obesity in our children. One of the major factors in that is this; our children have become less physically active. At an early age children start watching TV, learn how to operate a computer, and play video games. Having technological skills is now a necessity in all of our lives because everything has turned “computerized,” but the fact is that our children are relying on these types of entertainment rather than getting up and physically exercising to entertain them selves. This directly affects the large number of obese children in our country today because of the lack of physical exercise. It is not that we want our kids to look a certain way or to be better at sports than everyone else, but it is that we want our kids to be physically fit and to develop a healthy lifestyle. Physical exercise is not only for adults, it is for children as well, so we must understand the importance of our children exercising and the benefits from it. There is no doubt that society needs to change from being unhealthy and overweight to physically active and healthy, but many changes need to be done in society to do so, and making adjustments to physical education must be done.

Despite the opposing opinion that students who take part in organized sports suffer academically due to time deprivation and focus misdirected away from the classroom, involvement in sports teaches young men and women to maintain imperative values, such as hard work, selflessness, and commitment, which ultimately improves student-athletes’ academic performance.
It 's been outrageous , how many kids get injured per year playing youth sports for school and organizations. The youth who play sports receive plenty medical attention throughout the year due to injuries cause from actions made occuring in games. Health plays a big part in sports because if your are are not healthy many things can go wrong with the body including dehydration, heart problems , and muscle spasm. Playing a sport can be very hard to juggle with school and also getting talked down by coaches and parents. Dehydration is a high possibility because of outside sports that happen in the spring/summer and playing and practicing in humid conditions that you are not well prepared for can be bad and there will be consequences.
