A person who overcomes antagonistic and unnecessary issues in a mature and powering manor. That is the definition of a hero to me. Someone who is being hurt and sees others hurt from the actions and takes charge and does everything in his power to change it. Someone who puts others before themselves and acts in the most chivalrous way. The definition of a hero is different for everyone. Some one might think of a hero as someone who can lift a car and put it on their back, or gives a dying person their kidney. Yes all of those people are forms of hero’s. You can’t tell someone that they are not a hero just because they don’t change into a disguise in a telephone both or can throw lightning bolts from a cloud. Everyone is a hero in their own way.
In the book Twisted by Laurie Halse Anderson, Tyler Miller is about to be a senior in high school. He has been doing community service all summer for the mistake he committed by spray painting his school walls. He has to go home to a sister, Hannah, who is going to be a freshman, a mother who is a pet photographer, and a father who is trying to make it up in his business world and has mentally abused everyone in the house for years. Tyler only has one friend, Yoda, and he is in love with Hannah. One day, a week before the first day of school, they all go to Tyler’s dad’s boss’s house for a cook out. The daughter of Tyler’s dad’s boss is Bethany Milburry, the most popular girl school. Tyler has been in love with her since 3rd grade. An accident happens and glasses are dropped on the ground and Bethany gets cuts all over both of her feet. Tyler’s dads automatically blame Tyler, along with Bethany’s brother Chip. The next day he feels bad he goes over to her house to apologize and they end...

In this book, Tyler is a huge hero in my eyes. He finally stood up to his dad for him, his mom, and his sister. He put himself aside and told him to treat everyone better. That they did not deserve to be treated the way he treated them. The way Tyler stood up for him was amazing and mature. You think that he didn’t have to smash things up but that is the only way he could get threw to his dad. Tyler’s dad did not care about anyone else but himself and how everyone made him look to the public. So sitting him down at the table and having a “family meeting” would not have worked. I just wish I could have been like Tyler to my dad when I need to be strong like him. Tyler is an inspiration to anyone who reads this book and who is going threw something similar like Tyler did.
In my opinion, a hero is someone whose principal purpose, whether it be in one situation or over the span of their entire life, is to help others while simultaneously making the world a better place. When the word hero is brought up, the most prevailing image that comes to mind is superheroes like Batman and Superman. But I don’t think you have to have superpowers or even be well known in order to be a hero. There are people all over the world whose intention is to do selfless deeds and go out of their way for others without expectation of obtaining anything in return. These are the type of people I like to consider everyday heroes. They go through life just trying to be the best they can and trying to help as many people as they can. Whether
Tyler, a resident of Lancaster, Washington, lives with his hippie mother, Jasmine, and two siblings, Daisy and Mark. In search for excitement, he plans to take a summer vacation backpacking through Europe. Before his trip, he had a very comfortable relationship with Anna-Louise, a down to earth and very reserved girl attending the same college. However, in Europe, Tyler meets a French girl named Stephanie, who is very exotic and exciting to him and was the complete opposite of Anna-Louise. When Stephanie comes to visit Tyler in Lancaster, Anna-Louise learns of the brief affair Tyler and Stephanie had in Europe. Tyler then ends his relationship with Anna-Louise and moves to California with Stephanie.
The definition of a hero can be defined as a person who sacrificed himself/herself and admired for their brave accomplishment. For example, the Iron First published from the Marvel Comics in the 1970s. However, not everyone can become a hero. In the book Hero of the Thousand Faces, Campbell shows what does it mean to be a hero. And in order to be a hero you need madness. The hero cannot
...th each turn of the page, I wanted to rip Brenda out of pages as well and just set her free. Shelter her from Dr. Money. Shelter her from her teachers and parents who did nothing but watch Brenda battle with Bruce. It is hard to say that I feel sad that David committed suicide. A part of me felt guilty- guilt that I didn’t help David, though that is impossible. I felt happy, knowing that David could finally put his monsters at bay and live freely. The other side of me really wanted to see David succeed and have a wonderful life with his family. The Boy who was raised as a girl, is an amazing gut wrenching reality of what can happen when forcing children or anyone to conform or adopt an identity that is not ‘truly’ theirs. This book is one of those books that should be mandatory reading in schools. It is a book that everyone should be able to say that they read once.
What is the definition of a hero? A hero is an ordinary person who finds strength to persevere and endure, in spite of, overwhelming obstacles. In the novel, Lord of the Flies, Ralph, a ordinary 12 year old boy, is elected chief over an island with no adults and no way home. Ralph is considered a hero because he makes difficult choices for the group and overcomes many obstacles , such as keeping the fire going. In the epic poem, The Odyssey, Odysseus, a king of Ithaca, is called to battle in Troy and faces many challenging creatures on his way home such as Cyclops, Calypso, being turned into pigs, and many more. Odysseus is a hero because he perseveres and overcomes the obstacles and makes it home to his family.
“A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles” (Christopher Reeves). In other words a hero can be anyone that is determined and helps other people. A hero is someone who can face challenges with determination, who can persevere or exceed beyond expectation, but is not always buff, or strong.
This is how Tyler deals with alot of his situations and how he learns from his mistakes. Tyler was just an ordinary high schooler until he became popular. As you can see Tyler becoming popular didnt really turn out all that well. I think that Tyler learned the lesson to not take being popular for granite. He thought that since he was popular he could start to mess with Chips friends and he could yell at his parents more and skip family dinners. As you know, this did not turn out good for Tyler and he paid the price of being blamed for a lot of things and not having a good family
Hero. Usually when this word is heard we think of Superman, Batman, Iron man and so on, but in reality what exactly is a hero? Who can be classified as heroic? From my perspective a hero is not only someone who wears a cape, has superhuman strength, wears fancy clothes or someone who saves his lady from the bad guy; however he is someone who stands for strength, bravery, humbleness, justice and equality. I believe a hero is someone who truly intends to make the world a better place for all people. He stands for what he believes in even though he may encounter danger and obstacle. We often watch movies with action heroes fighting for a good cause, but these heroes cause us ignore the real life heroes such as Cesar Chavez and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Cesar Chavez and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr are genuinely the definition of a hero.
A hero is defined as "someone admired for his bravery, great deeds or noble qualities". There are three categories to which all heroes can be classified into, one of which is the anti-hero genre.
A hero can be generalized as a fiction character, with powers, strength, and abilities beyond mankind, but they are so much more than that. What defines a hero? "Heroism is trying your hardest, no matter the obstacles to go beyond the needs of yourself to help others." - (Springboard page 85). Your local firefighter is a hero. Your teacher is a hero. Your grandpa is a hero. Your mother is a hero. Your neighbor is a hero. Even you are a hero. We all have the characteristics of a hero as people. But a true hero puts behind all other things the we have as humans; Fear, selfishness, ignorance, greed, evil, wrong doing, etc.
Tyler lives his disturbing existence with the help of his seclusion and his lack of caring as to what other people think of him. Truthfully, his goal is to reach the bottom: a way of life that is so...
Webster’s dictionary defines a hero as any man admired for his courage, qualities or exploits, especially in war. Some people attribute the term hero mostly to war. My personal definition of a hero is someone who takes a stand against evil or an unjust cause. The term hero can be applied to anyone, it isn’t necessary to save the world from explosion to be a hero. The act of standing up for a friend can also be called a heroic act.
A hero is someone who invests their time helping others rather than themselves. They are always conscious of their surroundings and environment. Heroes help their enemies and friends regardless of the circumstances. A hero is also someone who is humble and knows when to be protective of others and themselves. Heroes are people who acknowledge flaws, and fix mistakes, those were my own definition of a hero. In “Undocumented Immigrant”, Jose Antonio Vargas tells the truth about his illegal status in the United States. Not only was he an immigrant in the United States, he was his own hero. Vargas proved that he is a hero through code switching, bravery and honesty.
There once was this boy named Steven his mom and dad got divorced when he was really young, and now he is 13 years old and his mother who is named Miranda is living with her soon to be husband and Steven is living with them at Blake’s house. (Blake is Miranda’s soon to be husband). They are living a happy life already but they thought it would be better if they moved to Tampa Florida and have a new beginning there and get married there too. So they begin to pack and they begin to get in the car to go down to Florida for their new life together and Steven starts to think about how he is going to adjust to his new school and if he is going to make friends or not. So the first week or so he made a friend and that friend helped him
In today's modern times we hear the word hero all of the time. The news media throws the term around as if it is an everyday word. What exactly is a hero? Who, or what, can be classified as heroic? The correct definition of the word hero is: One invested with heroic qualities in the opinions of others. That is a fine definition for books and intellectual minds. To the average person, however, a hero is much more.
