Henry Ford was born on his father’s farm in what is now Dearborn, Michigan on July 30, 1863, to William and Mary Ford. According to his biographer, Andrew Ewart: “He showed an early facility for repairing clocks and watches. . . He has no education in science- he got his considerable mechanical knowledge from experience. ” Young Ford was inspired by a steam-powered tractors when he was a teenager. This made him think about the way things work. He left his family farm to purse his interest in machinery in Detroit at the age of 16. His first job was at the Flowers Brothers Machine shop. There he earned a salary of 2. 50 a week, he shaped brass valves on a milling machine. He married Clara Bryant, on April 11,1888. Clara gives birth to a son, Edsel Bryant on November 6, 1893. Edsel ends up being Clara and Henry’s only child. In September, 1891, he returned to Detroit to work as an engineer for Edison Illuminating company, he eventually became chief engineer at the plant.
The Quadricycle was Henry’s first gasoline motor vehicle, and it was the guideline to his later success in the automobile industry. On June 4th 1896, after two years of experimentation, he completes his first automobile. He worked on his automobile in a small shed behind his home, as well as in a basement room at Edison Illuminating. It was called the ‘Quadricycle’ because it ran on four bicycle tires. The “Quadricycle is built on a steel frame with no body. The dash is made of wood, and the seat is toolbox-like, covered in green cloth with metal arms. ”
Before the founding of Ford Motor Company, Henry Ford had two fail attempts at starting his own company. His first attempt was in 1899, Ford quits his job at the Edison Illuminating Company to fo...

When World War II began in 1939 Ford, who always hated war, fought to keep the United States from taking sides. But after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor Ford Motor Company became one of the major US military contractors, supplying airplanes, engines, jeeps and tanks.
Henry Ford did not invent the automobile nor did he invent the assembly line he did in fact innovate both. This wage increase was designed to make automobiles affordable and accessible to the common man.
