For this paper I chose to write about one of my most recent favorite movies, The Heat. The Heat is staring Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy. I chose this film because every time I watch this movie I feel a sense of “girl power” and also its one of the first movies that came to mind after reviewing what the Bechdel Test was. In this paper I will go over how this movie The Heat passes the Bachdel test and will show you the constant battles that women face when they are working in a male dominated workplace. At the beginning when the two first meet you might guess they are not going to get along because of their complete opposite personalities. Ashburn comes in to the situation very focused and ready to get down to business knowing that if she does well on this case she will get a big promotion. Mullins is not taking team work well and has no desire to work with Ashburn on this drug case even though she knows she has to. This is a huge case they are working on and they both want the respect but they don’t think they need each other to track down this drug kingpin. Ashburn can’t stand Mullins foul mouth or the way she does her work because to her it’s very unorganized. Mullins doesn’t care much for Ashburn either because of the snooty way she comes off and she especially hates the way she dresses and even makes fun of her by calling telling her she looked like a bank teller and Mullins took the scissors to her clothes to make her look not so professional in hopes that she doesn’t blow the case. Soon after Ashburn and Mullins start working with each other and they get over their egos they become very great partners that have a lot of
