Don’t skip meals
If you’re planning to host a holiday feast, don’t skip meals prior to the event. You can also eat light snacks like fruit, yogurt or nuts before the party. This will keep you from being too hungry and losing your restraint, which could result in overeating. Remember to always eat breakfast since this is the first meal of the day and studies shows that those who eat breakfast are more easily satiated in the next meals....
Nutritionally speaking, the French have been getting away with murder: They eat all the butter, cream, foie gras, pastry and cheese that their hearts desire, and yet their rates of obesity and heart disease are much lower than ours.”(146). The French have a similar diet to Americans, but they eat three times as much saturated animal fat as Americans do and only a third as many die of heart attacks. The French eat a greater diversity of foods and have structure to their schedules. The French eat prepared meals at home, with high-quality foods and in between meals. They don’t snack because of the structure in their life, they create more quality time at the dinner table to socialize with their families. This social aspect of eating meals, enjoying them with loved ones has a big impact on their overall health. Another important aspect of the French diet is how they thoroughly enjoy different kinds of red wine, cheeses, and meats. This attitude towards what people are eating and how they feel about eating, has an effect on health. “Fischler and Rozin say that the biggest predictor of health may not be the content of someone’s diet, but how stressed out they are about food, and how relaxed they are about eating.”(149). Eating healthy relies on more than just a balanced diet, but on stress levels, and your overall
Having a healthy lifestyle requires plenty of motivation and determination because of the multiple sacrifices that may occur during this process and the breakdowns and overwhelming feelings that you are going to have to get over. Through the article “Unhappy Meals”, author Michael Pollan reveals many simple, yet equally important principles on healthy eating. Pollan provides nine rules on how we should change our eating habits and, as a result, become healthy individuals. As a part of his nine rules, he advises that we should eat food that know of and are familiar with, and to consume mostly plants and home cooked meals (Pollan). Pollan informs his audience that complying with these rules will provide them with a healthy lifestyle. I do comply

Feasts are a major part of the Asian culture, whenever there’s a gathering food is a necessity. First thing relatives ask is whether you have eaten or not, and encourage to eat. Eating is extremely important, it is also important to eat healthy. Most Americans eat without any concerns; they are not questioning or researching what they are feeding themselves or their family. A lot of that has to do with their financial stability, not having the time to prepare a meal due to their time-consuming work schedule, also lack of knowledge and education on what they are consuming. In this bibliography, I will go over all three articles and explain what they are about.
She realized that she had enough supplies to last the semester, so she decided to spend the money on healthy food since she was not sure what the cafeteria was going to offer. Tammy decided to listen to the article written by Concordia on what foods not to eat. “it suggests limiting foods that are high in calories, fat, sugar or salt (sodium) such as cakes and pastries, chocolate and candies, cookies and granola bars, doughnuts and muffins, ice cream and frozen desserts, French fries, potato chips, salty snacks, alcohol, fruit flavored drinks, soft drinks, sports and energy drinks, and sweetened hot or cold drinks” (Concordia, p.6). After knowing what not to eat, Tammy wanted to know the correct proportions of what to eat for her age group. She looked in her book for lifestyle and age group for women 19-25 years of age. According to Sizer (2013, p.45) “Sedentary women 19-25 years old should get 2 cups of fruit, 2 and a half cups of vegetables, 6 Oz of grains, 5 and a half Oz of protein, 3 cups of milk, 6 tablespoons of oils and 258 calories of fats and sugars.” By getting the range of nutrients from the different food groups is how one is to obtain a balanced
Proper nutrition is important in maintaining a long and healthy life. Most Americans are rushed due to their busy work schedules, and do not take the time to plan their diets properly. Like me, most Americans are unaware of the importance of eating a healthy diet and consume too many foods without the proper nutrients. Throughout my life I have been fortunate. I have not had any major health problems, and have been able to consume most foods without having to worry about gaining weight. These last two years, however, I started to gain weight and have become concerned with my diet. Changing my poor eating habits has been difficult for me, however, having this assignment has taught me that it is not as difficult as I previously imagined.

One way the population of America can overcome the issue of obesity is by simply eating healthier. Further explained, people can start making healthier decisions on what they decide to eat. Sugars and sodium counts are very high inside the foods that can only satisfy a sweet tooth. The ingestion of carbohydrates, saturated fat, and trans fat are very easy to overlook. The food pyramid is a great visual of what people should be eating daily in order to maintain a healthful way of life. Whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and protein should become the main focus at every meal. Another way to eat healthier is to follow the suggested serving size by eating smaller portions. By law it is required for food-producing companies to place a label on their products with a listing of the serving size and ...
