Hair care is a skill anyone can become proficient in. Before selecting any regime or product examine your hair. Are the strands finer then a sewing thread, the same size or thicker? Is it naturally curly or straight? Has it been chemically treated or is it all natural? Each hair type will require slightly different products and care. Most women dye or highlight there hair at some point in their lives. Some even do it on a regular basis. Those who use hair dye should be aware of a substance used in some dyes. PPD or paraphenylenediamine, is something that has been linked to allergic reactions in some people. It is believed that the allergy can become worse over time. Mild symptoms can include burning and red skin.

Today, most hair dyes are low or no PPD. Ask your colorist to use low PPD dyes if she does not already. Be sure that she avoids getting the dye cream on your skin and scalp.
