“Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body, it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity. John F. Kennedy” I remember it like it was yesterday, getting my first basketball goal was like a dream come true. Little did I know, it would be my journey to acquiring a love for physical fitness. As I grew I began to see the health benefits of being physically fit and staying active. Learning more about the field of public health during my sophomore year of undergraduate is what sparked a desire for me to join my love for fitness and public health. The further I go in my education journey, the more intrigued I become about helping populations through public health and physical fitness. Public Health is a broad intricate field that seeks to protect the overall health of populations. Without public health, everyone would be negatively affected. Food safety and clean water are examples of how public health play a vital role in keeping communities healthy. Public Health also seeks to prevent illness, injury, and disease through government funding, education, and community involvement. Furthermore, public health has a significant role in the science and research world because it’s the basis of providing public health knowledge. Community health, health administration, maternal and child health, epidemiology, public health education and promotion, occupation health, and industrial hygiene show the broadness, essentialness, and endless possibilities of the public health field. These factors have also continued to fuel my interest in the field. My personal goals are to help others through public health and physical fitness. I want to be successful, helpful, and selfless in order to achieve the g...

I know that I’m capable of achieving anything I set my mind to as I have a strong will, desire, and mindset achieve my goals. I believe the public health program at JSU will help me to obtain my future goals through its focus on providing a high quality education and creating lifelong leaders that will go on to accomplish great things. I also believe the program will aid me in accomplishing my goals because of the broad range of education and research interests that faculty in the program have overall, but primarily in the Behavioral Health Promotion and Education area. If accepted I have aspirations of working with all faculty, but have taken high interest in Dr. Mohammad Shahbazi, due to his research/professional interest sticking out to me as something I may be interested getting involved with.
