Haptic Interfaces
The usage of Haptic Interfaces on everyday devices has revolutionized the way that we will interact with computers and mobile devices for everyday usage. In this paper, I will contend that Haptic interfaces will be used in my Car Checker application, because it will be helpful with light, stimulating jolts of touch feedback in regards to buttons being pressed in the application and the vibrations that come with the application notifications. Before I will talk about the different reasons why haptic interface will be helpful in the car checker application, some background knowledge about haptic interfaces will be discussed in order to provide some context for the use of the haptic interface.
Background Information on Haptic Interfaces
Before the benefits of the implementation of Haptic Interface to the car checker application can be explain, an explanation of the background information about Haptic Interfaces must be done. Cory Janssen of Techpodia.com defines Haptic Interfaces as “a system that allows a human to interact with a computer through bodily sensations and movements.”(Paragraph1). The definition refers to accompanying the tactile senses in human computer interaction, because for example, pressing a button on a touchpad might be made to feel like you are touching a keyboard. Haptic interfaces are now becoming a greater part in our lives than in the past, in which Haptic interfaces where not talked about as much. The Haptic interface will result in a realistic feel for the buttons within the car checker application. Further investigation is required before any more Haptic interfaces can be applied to the car checker application that does not include the ones included in the paper.

It is evident that the capacity to visually recognize things or objects is far much superior in comparison to the recognition by the use of the sense of touch (Saal, Vijayakumar & Johansson, 2009). Moreover, in comparison the ability of a human being to recognize objects visually is considered to be much accurate as well as faster than the case of tactile recognition. However, in the case of human beings visual recognition requires some brief palpations on an object in order to properly mark the identify of that object (Tonkonogiĭ & Puente, 2009). The sense of touch for any human being or species provides immense data regarding the surrounding world. Tactile recognition or the sense of touch is usually the first to develop and lasts even after the two other cognition senses fade away; visual and auditory recognition (Warren, Santello & Tillery, 2011). Though, Verrillo (1966) suggest this may due to the fact that ones are more aware the loss of visual and auditory senses as they are more salient and the deterioration of tactile senses are less noticeable. The sense of touch is considered to be an informative, active as well as perceptual system in any species. However, it is essential to point that the aspect and practice of tactile recognition plays a frequent role in an individual’s daily life. Most of the drivers are likely to mix up driving and messaging from their cell phones while driving regardless of the laws standing on the issues, and danger posed to them. A majority of those drivers engaging in this act do not contemplate the possible detrimental effects from their actions. Research has indicated that texting while driving contributes to road accidents significantly. Design and implement a few haptic related projects for the benefit of physically challenged people. This proposal develops an approach for haptic exploration of unknown objects by robotic fingers. Because haptic exploration is coupled with manipulation and exploration using a sequence of phases is presented. With specialized fingers and sensors and appropriate planning and control robots can also be enabled to explore the worlds through touch. Haptic exploration has applications in many areas including planetary exploration, undersea salvage, operations in remote and hazardous conditions. Application of the human haptic interaction, multi sensory perception, action and multimodal feedback can be applied in the fields of education, rehabilitation, medicine, computer aided design, skill training, computer games, driver controls, simulation and visualization.
Over the last few decades, the use of cell phones has become a very common tool. Furthermore, Technology has certainly advanced, and the cell phone is becoming the most preferred mode of communication. The demand for a cell phone is growing every day. In addition, the use of wireless technology is affordable, and anyone can buy a cell phone at a reasonable price. They come in all shapes and sizes. They range from black to bright metallic white. American public use of cell phones is increasing everyday. As the number of people using cell phones increase, the use of cell phones while driving will also increase on our streets and highways. At the same rate, motorists still converse on cell phones and write text messages while driving. Motorist will also engage in other activities apart from driving. For example, drivers will text when driving, and they will dial numbers. Drivers will receive calls and converse with the recipient for long periods. Again, driving demands your full attention, and your concentration needed when talking on the phone. However, it means that the driver has to divert his attention to the conversation, which leads to less concentration on the road. On the contrary, one can therefore connect motorist’s accidents and cell phone usage while driving.

Road safety is one of the most important aspects of daily living. Our vehicle is our main transportation from one place to another. The number of car and motorcycle accidents seem to be increasing because of the many distractions, the lack of safety measures and judgment to road conditions and weather. Not being cautious increases the chances of not only injuring ourselves but hurting others as well. On the road, you see people talking on their cell phones or texting, eating, putting makeup on, changing the radio station, reading or using your GPS while driving. These are all distractions that endanger drivers, passengers and bystanders safety.
