WLAN (Wireless Local Area network) and its components: The task of developing a WLAN on commercial front possesses a greater challenge. Developing initial design, purchasing and installing components, managing and providing maintenance to the systems are the main basic parts of the WLAN. When we use WLAN on a commercial front then we may face the security and privacy concerns. The total area of that particular commercial area should be accessible. This is only possible with installing huge number of access points. The various components of the WLAN are
a) Wireless LAN NIC (Network Interface Card)
b) Access points
Wireless LAN NIC (Network Interface Card): Wireless LAN NIC is card that helps the devices to get connected to the WLAN. Today the systems are built with the Wi-Fi certified NIC’s, they can operate with any of the access points as well as the WLAN. There are some vendors who include NIC’s with additional features so that it can operate with the other networks as well.

The propose research will address a problem confronting many two year institutions in the present-day (i.e. how to best plan, design, and implement WLAN technologies). While WLAN technologies offer the benefits of mobility, reduced installation time, and decreased cost, many challenges must be met by institutions deploying them (Geier, 2005). These issues are related to security, speed, interoperability, and equipment selection, ease of use, reliability, signal interference, installation, and health risks.
This proposal is for a small office that will have users who are connected by Wi-Fi or cable. The network will include devices and resources that is shared among all the users. The network will need to have security measures in place to protect the entire network and keep the wireless access secure and available only to employees of the company.

For mini project of this subject, I choose to analyze performance management of different Wi-Fi based on context Wi-Fi service provided in my house area which is SriPuteri WifiNet. To analyze the performance management, I have to identify the problem statement, scope and method to use. In Local Area Network (LAN), although multiple device such as PC, laptop, mobile phone and many more can connected to Wi-Fi but as the increasing of device used, the network can become slower because of data traffic congestion. To overcome the problem, it is essential to have a good Network Management plans.
Wi-Fi (Wireless Network) or 802.11 networking is a phenomenal way of providing Internet wirelessly at a low cost. Using radio waves, a wireless network connects a PC, mobile phone or just about anything that connects to the internet wirelessly by a router. By transmitting signals at 2.4 or 5 GHz it allows the waves to transmit more data at a faster rate. Typical Wi-Fi standards are 802.11a, b, g, n, or ac and they can switch up the frequency depending on the model (Brain). Families can create their own wireless network that can be shared between family members without the use of hooking all their devices up to the modem and can also protect their home network from potential hackers with the use of a TKIP or AES encryption. Businesses can also create a “hotspot” which is an area that has wireless networks for free or at a set fee. This is extremely convenient for commuters that need internet access while they are at work, waiting on a plane, or just sitting at a coffee spot without the need for wires(Cox).
When looking at wireless communications, there are many standards to discuss as there are so many types all used for different purposes. I am going to talk about a range of communications used for different ways to communicate; for example Bluetooth can be used to send files between mobile devices. Cellular broadband, which is used on mobile phones and tablets to be able to access the internet while out of reach of a Wi-Fi signal. I will also look at satellite, which can be used to provide Internet to remote areas and Wi-Fi which is widely used to access Internet and local networks without having to have a physical connection. I will finally assess WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access) that is used to provide Internet over a large distance.
Local Area Networks also called LANs have been a major player in industrialization of computers. In the past 20 or so years the worlds industry has be invaded with new computer technology. It has made such an impact on the way we do business that it has become essential with an ever-growing need for improvement. LANs give an employer the ability to share information between computers with a simple relatively inexpensive system of network cards and software. It also lets the user or users share hardware such as Printers and scanners. The speed of access between the computers is lighting fast because the data has a short distance to cover. Therefore, almost every sector of the economy that has affected by wired and wireless technology. Wired network and wireless protect both has security, But in general wireless network is less secure than wired networks. For proper security AP (access point) and its antenna should be right position. Also add a wireless access point or use a wireless router we can connect to network wirelessly. AS we using more and more of devices (smart phones, tablet and computers) rely on wireless networking, we have to improve our network security too.
