Gun Violence And The Relationship

I expect my interviews with the few policemen to reveal the facts that I have studied about gun violence and the relationship it has with several aspects. For example, the lower class and bad neighborhoods. While conducting my pilot study I interviewed the few men who were current and former policemen in La County and Orange County as well. I was able to gather so much information regarding either statistics, or just the amount of crime that was witnessed in terms of gun violence or the poverty areas. I expected that most of the information that I gathered would be in large relation to the topic in which I am studying, but some of it wasn’t close to what I was looking at. The information gathered was still something that is of value and that will be remembered when researching anything relating to police or violence. When the interviews started to come up as an option for me I immediately knew what I wanted to do. I forecasted that my interviews with these few people being policemen former and current would be rather crucial piece to my paper. I would most likely do atleast five to ten interviews, to be able to get the proper feedback.I expected that my interviews with these men to help me determine just how bad the violence with guns and the gun laws truly are. But, I mostly found that the gun laws that we have here in California are rather some of the strictest laws I’ve ever studied, in relation to another state such as Texas who is pro-gun. Texas government wanted to pass a bill to be able to allow students to carry weapons on campus. This bill is being set to be passed and is looked at as a win for the gun activist. All through college there has been nothing but promoting guns would be a terrible idea for college students to ... ... middle of paper ... ... of non-medical deaths in the U.S. By 2015, firearm fatalities will probably exceed traffic fatalities for the first time, based on data compiled by Bloomberg (Christoff, Christ, Kolet, and Ilan 2012). The officers had mentioned this during the interview which shocked me, because I never thought anything like that would ever happen. Each year the violence related to guns has risen. The violence stems from school shootings, movie theater shootings, and shoots outs with the criminal. There are many examples in which case these are shown. The example listed was the movie theater shooting, which had happened in Aurora Colorado. A man by the name of James Holmes went into a theater and just went on a rampage. Further studies need to be done in order to try and solve why crimes like this are committed, rather is be the mere fact that they are mentally insane or unstable.
