Gun Control in the United States has become a big controversial topic that has affected millions of Americans families due to firearms. Firearms that have taken the lives of many innocent civilians in the hands of criminals or individuals that harm others for different reasons. It is harsh to see what America is going through due to gun violence. Kids, elders, men, and women getting killed with firearms intentionally and accidentally. If we go back to history, firearms were created for different reason. For example, the Founding Fathers of the United States won the freedom with guns; fighting the British in many battles that is how this nation was able get its liberty, fighting the Spaniards because they wanted to steal gold, and fighting Native …show more content…
There are some individuals who are innocent and a due to difficult circumstances, they become criminals. Firearms cannot be used by its own sake; the only way they can kill, is by an individual holding the trigger; because it is people that kill people. Gun leads to violence and gives power to others. Every single state, within the United States should advocate to create more laws that can restrict in some way the use of firearms to prevent the increasing rate of gun violence across the country.
We as citizens need to understand that guns are not for everyone to use. There are certain people that just cannot be around guns or have a gun with them because they can harm someone intentionally or accidentally due to the loss of self-control. There are people that are not responsible enough to handle a gun. I believe that having a gun should be like saving money and using that money in case of an emergency; you do not touch it for anything that is not worth it. You only touch it in a situation that you feel is needed. That is the way firearms should be used, you don’t use it unless something bad is happening or you feel that your life is being threatened. The reason the

However, in the society we live in, there are always people that think that having a gun brings and promotes more violence into the communities and also that is a bad influence for the children that grow in that type of environment. The government should make gun control laws more restrictive, although I think that not even if they pass legislations regarding gun violence, there will still exist crimes involving firearms the percentage of this acts of violence may decrease. Gun violence make us question if police officers are they really doing their job? I consider that not all of them are doing their jobs well, there has been a lot of cases of police officers killing innocent people for no reason. Right now, in the United States of America, we have many cases involving police brutality. It is sad because police officers should be protecting those people from criminals; not killing the people that they should be protecting. It is reasonable that many police officers are afraid of getting shoot or killed to death. But that is what they had decided to do in order to protect society, then they should do it. People do not join the Army because they were forced, they wanted to protect their country from terrorists and from any threat that wants to harm American citizens. We’ve seen on the news police officers killing innocent people because they are afraid for their lives, so they rather kill whom ever, even
In The United States of America there are lots of problems that are plaguing our nation. Gun Control is a problem that there is lots of controversy over. This is a problem that had a fire reignited under it when on December 14, 2012 a school in Connecticut was attacked. Many legislative bills have been introduced since then. (Focus of U.S Gun Control Shifts to States Year after Newtown Shooting) There are lots of issues that we have in our community with Gun Control that we have controversy over: background checks, age, classes, military guns, pistols, shotguns, and rifles. All of these things are apart of the plague in our Nation.
Today in this day and age the world is filled with hate and violence and other terrible things. People use weapons and other objects to cause terror on others for many reasons such as power and wealth. Firearms are one of the weapons someone may use to harm or rule over others because of the danger the weapon can cause. Over the years with gun violence and killings, some people want to get rid of the citizens right to purchase and own firearms. Although gun violence bad, by taking a person’s right to bear arms will not solve the problem with gun violence in todays society.
People have questioned gun control long time. Many people wonder if anyone, aside from those who join the law force, should be allowed to carry guns. Benjamin Franklin once said, “Those who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety” (Wright 4). Franklin understood that taking guns away from law-abiding citizens would not uphold their liberty. Some people who argue for gun control state many violent crimes involve guns. Others believe a child could find the gun and something bad could happen to the child or others when a gun is unsafely stored. People who argue against gun control might say there is a huge psychological gap between citizens who shoot to protect themselves or their property and those who go into schools and shoot at others. Criminals will always find a way around gun control laws and will be able to obtain and use guns illegally. The second amendment protects gun rights for individual citizens. Reasonable gun control laws and educational steps can be taken to protect the majority of U.S. citizens. Gun control does not only take guns away from criminals, gun control also limits law-abiding citizens from protecting themselves and their families when necessary.
Guns do not kill people, people do. The American Dream is being able to work towards and achieve whatever makes you happy, whether it be owning your own business, joining the military, or staying at home raising a family, but the only way to reach your dream is to do it without living in fear that your dream will be taken away. In the last couple years mass shootings and attacks on schools have sadly become a common tragedy. Those who have been victims of public shootings or any other life scarring event due to a criminal, along with anyone else who has watched the coverage of the tragedies on the news is somewhat living in fear, but if concealed carry laws were passed then living in fear would be significantly lowered along with crime rates. According to Mike Miller, author of What Happened to Chicago’s Murder Rate After Illinois Upheld Concealed Carry and Why it Matters, “three to four crimes are stopped by a handgun than are committed in the United States every year” (Miller). People would feel much safer knowing they would be able to defend themselves if the time ever arose. When we think or hear about guns most of us jump to the negative effects and stories we have heard. The only stories we hear about guns are how a person’s life has ended because of it, but we never hear how they save a person’s life. It is important to remember the commonly used phrase when talking about concealed carry, “Guns do not kill people, people do.” However, guns are an effective way of protection and states should not make stricter gun control laws because it is ineffective and creates additional problems in today’s violent society.
Today in the United States many people argue over the fact of guns being legal or illegal. There are people using guns for personal safety and there are others who use them for crimes, as well as for other situations. Firearm deaths in the United States have slowly been decreasing from year to year with all these bills getting passed to promote a safer country than ever before. Guns are the main weapon for youth suicide, school shootings, and for committing murder. In 2010 there were 2,711 infants, child, and teenage firearm deaths. As in school shootings and in committing murder, studies show shooters often had multiple, non-automatic guns, shootings were planned, most youth tell before shooting, shooters have a history of being bullied or threatened, shooters have mental issues, and shooters have done suicidal gestures before (Gun Control with School Shootings). Although there are people who use guns for murdering, there are also those who oppose guns being used without the proper requirements. 85% of all respondents to the survey supporting requiring states to report people to national background-checks systems who are prohibited from owning gu...
Imagine receiving the news that a loved one or someone you care about has had a tragic or a misfortunate accident in consequence of a gun; this can happen to anyone in the reach of a weapon. Misuse of Guns in America is an irresponsibility of people misusing and abusing the authority of a gun. Americans in the U.S buy and obtain guns all the time; of course, there are background checks done for the people purchasing them, but who knows what that person will do with a weapon this present day, and that does not mean the will be the only one who uses it.The rate of guns being misused by irresponsible people in America is not safe for U.S citizens. Those domestic abusers, criminals, and who are dangerously mentally ill and others should be denied
Thesis: We should have Gun-control in laws because it will prevent a lot of problems .
“A gun is a tool. It has no emotion or feelings. It cannot make decisions or take action. It does not know hate. It does not discriminate, take sides, or judge others. It is morally neutral. It is no better or worse than any other tool. A gun has no action without a user. Remember that” -Anonymous. As our world seems to grow increasingly violent, and mass shootings seem commonplace, many government leaders are pushing for certain gun laws that would ban the public from owning firearms of any sort. This is wrong, because as United States citizens, we have the right to bear arms. Despite a recent increase in gun violence within the United States, government leaders should not create laws which would restrict gun usage, should it involve magazine capacity, concealed carry, or the eradication of assault weapons for the public.
Growing up in Brooklyn, NY I keenly became aware that in my own neighborhood there were educational disparities, street violence, and police brutality. Due to the widespread presence of these issues while walking home from school or going grocery shopping with my mother, I also learned there was internal conflict between the people that lived in the community and those who were appointed to represent them- the congressional representative of my district. My premature awareness of these issues caused me to question who had the ability to solve the problems of my community? I discovered that the television show “Law and Order” offered a possible answer. As the youngest child of my household, my older siblings affinity for the show naturally steered
Over the past few decades gun control has come to the fore front of debate in politics and the mass media. It's no wonder that in the wake of the recent school shootings and attacks on churches that people are beginning to fear guns. People are beginning to see guns as an object of death and destruction and not as what they are meant to be. While guns are used in war they are not intended to kill innocent people, guns are intended to be used by experienced gun handlers for protection and hunting. When used properly a gun is no more dangerous than a car or a knife, all of these can be used in crime but none of them are intended to be.
Gun control and self-defense has been a hot topic in the United States in the last couple of years, with the United States having 88.8 guns for every 100 people. People argue whether individuals should have the right to own and carry weapons or whether there should be a stricter regulation on guns. With crimes occurring everywhere in the United States it’s only logical to allow those who qualify for a concealed weapon the right to obtain a permit to carry. With the recent laws of concealed carry weapons being allowed in all 50 states and Jerry Brown banning concealed carry on college campuses, controversy is hotter than it’s ever been. Although we have seen weapons used for hurting, guns, when placed in concealed carry hands, are not the cause
Gun control has been a controversial issue for many years. A vast majority of citizens believe that if gun control is strictly enforced it would quickly reduce the threat of crime. Many innocent people feel they have the right to bear arms for protection, or even just the pleasure of hunting. Americans have a constitutional right to own hand guns and stricter laws and licensing will not affectively save lives.
There are twenty-seven states that prohibit gun possession by at least some of the juvenile offenders. We need gun store owners and companies that carry guns and weapons to do a background for psychotic and criminal behavior. Requiring an individual to obtain a license or permit for the purchase or possession of a firearm can facilitate responsible firearm use by ensuring that an applicant knows how to safely load, fire, and store a gun. That way they have some type of knowledge of relevant firearm laws. Some people may say that the Second Amendment applies and gives us the right to bear arms, however, that doesn’t mean that we can go around buying these weapons and using them for recreational activities. Americans today think that if they own a gun that they have all the power in the world. They also seem to think that if they see a foreigner that they can just kill them to make this country safer. How can people look at their neighbor or close friend and kill them just because they said or did one thing wrong? That is what this country has come to without stricter gun laws. We need to actually do something for once instead of sitting on our lazy behinds. We need to get up and apply this to our fellow Americans, that there is something wrong with the way we live today. Where research has been completed, it has indicated that solutions to our nation’s epidemic of gun violence does exist. Gun violence may not be altogether curable but it is
Firearms are a very important and debated subject in today’s news. There are mainly two sides on the debate, for gun control or against it, and both sides have well thought out arguments and statistics to justify their ideas. Firearms were invented after gunpowder in China in the 14th century. Wars were raging and China needed to advance in their technology. Other surrounding countries had archery which was fast and a good defense during war. Therefore when gunpowder was found to be explosive the Chinese put it into bamboo barrels, and were now ahead in the war (Jeff Harder). Firearms have been protecting men, women, and children for years. In wars and in day to day life. Although firearms are dangerous in illegal situations, are a high cause of death, and suicide. Firearms still protect citizens in dangerous situations and have been helping people find food for centuries.
Guns have been a controversial topic since the founding of the United States. Our forefathers decided that "a well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed". From the very beginning our government has controlled a citizen's rights in regards to firearms. In 1999, citizens are being limited just as our ancestors were only the government has taken the responsibility away from the individual and placed it on the manufacturer of the firearms. Media coverage and firearm-related deaths have caused the government to intervene on the manufacturing and banning of firearms.
