Boom, boom… boom, guns fire off at Columbine (Columbine). This is one of the reasons why gun control laws should be abolished. Although many Americans believe that gun control laws are needed for Americans. In all actuality though guns in safe and responsible hands reduce crime. Gun laws in total are against the second amendment. Gun control laws should be abolished. Gun control laws are almost useless. “It will not be the local police who will be out making sure that federal regulations are enforced” (Obama). So, almost no one will be enforcing this law. As one state trooper says “Congress is good at making pointless laws” (Obama). There are guns in about 1/3 of every American household, and 240 million guns in circulation (Lee). …show more content…

Gun Control is needed for Americans. Gun control saves lives. “In Illinois, two teens found a handgun in their grandmother’s apartment. The gun went off in the hands of a sixteen-year-old boy, killing his fifteen-year-old cousin” (Lunger). If there were more gun control laws, then the gun would not have fired and killed the fifteen-year-old cousin. In Michigan a six year old found a gun and killed a girl in his first grade class at school (Lunger). Because there was not a trigger lock on the gun, a small girl was killed (Lunger). In Florida a six year old found a gun at his grandparents, and accidentally killed his five-year-old brother (Lunger). If there were more gun laws, then this incident could have been avoided. “She carried a placard that said: “I march today to save a child tomorrow” (Lunger). This was what a mom had on a placard in 2000, during Mothers Day and she had lost her son from a stray bullet (Lunger). “A fourteen-year-old sister might have stopped the man, a family member said, but her father’s guns were locked away” (Lunger). If there were no gun control laws the girl could have saved herself and sibling. “Canada is an exception, and is often cited as a country with significant gun ownership rates but low gun violence rates” (Lee). Canada is proof that gun laws are not needed to control gun violence. Obama’s kids have armed guards at their school, but he wants to ban guns so everyone is defenseless. Washington D.C. has the highest murder rates in the U.S., and the residents cannot have any sort of firearm. This shows that more gun laws are not a good thing. In states that allow weapon concealment without a government permit, crime rates are almost at zero percent. The second amendment was made six years after the revolution because most troops were in volunteer militias, and used their own guns. So gun laws would have caused another revolution if they were present back then. And the majority of the time guns will injure someone rather than kill them. Gun control does not keep guns away from criminals. “Someone who is bent on murder will find other ways to acquire a gun-or just use a knife or a rock” (Lunger). So, gun control laws would not solve problems, but rather make new ones. Gun control takes guns away from law-abiding citizens. “IF GUNS ARE OUTLAWED, ONLY OUTLAWS WILL HAVE GUNS” (Lunger). This is
