Many government officials believe it is their right to control the use of firearms in our country. Many civilians believe it is their right to bear arms to protect themselves and their families. This has been a very controversial issue over the past recent years. Especially since Barack Obama was inaugurated. Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting really set a fire underneath the feet of liberals to secure more gun control laws. Is it really effective to take away guns from law abiding citizens? What about the gun running by the gangs and cartel? Who will take their guns away? Will the ATF? It’s nearly impossible to completely shut down organized crime such as the cartel. When guns are taken away from people who possess them merely to protect themselves, what will happen then? Let’s take a look at the much bigger picture here.
To say that a gun killed my daughter or son is asinine, and frankly it’s utterly ridiculous! Does anyone ever think about the person behind the gun? What about children who kill children? Where were their parents and why would you not lock up a weapon that would cause that kind of damage? As sad as it can be when a parent loses a child due to gun violence, but it certainly wasn’t gun’s fault. In my opinion, laws that are in place should be further enforced for the person responsible for the gun. The current laws hold the parent responsible for their minor adolescent’s criminal actions. Depending on the crime the parent could be charged with negligence, fined, or imprisoned in the cases where the parent’s registered legal firearm is used by a minor child for murderous acts. Are these parents prosecuted to the full extent of the law?

...of their guns. I wouldn’t want to be the one on the other end stirring that boiling pot! Can you imagine the chaos, and the storming of the streets? This country would never be the same again. So for those of you who think you can take guns away from law abiding citizens I believe you are in for a “fight,” literally!

Once the second amendment gets abolished the we have to turn in our firearms. That brings up a couple of questions. What is the Government gonna do with thousands of firearms and ammunition? Also, according to Ohio governor John Kasich, “ Gun violence is the fault of the individual, not the firearms itself.” Kasich continues to argue, “ Criminals would have access to guns even if they were illegal.” (Kasich “Gun Control Laws: Should the United States adopt stronger gun control laws.”) Criminals have access to the massive black market where you can buy anything illegal. Firearms to Illegal drugs and everything a criminal would want in between. If the Government makes our law abiding citizens give up their weapons, we the people of the United States would be at a disadvantage to criminals. This would make us Americans be at a state of constant
The police are not everywhere all the time. If someone is trying to kill you what are you supposed to do, wait for the police to arrive? No, you defend yourself and whats yours by all means necessary. Also, there are many states that have concealed weapons permits, this allows citizens who pass a background check and safety training to carry their gun on them in person. This is also widely debated on whether its safe or not. Its not a bad idea though. There are many instances where citizens have saved peoples lives during robberies or mass shootings because they have there firearms on them. Everyone deserves the right to feel safe in their homes and in public. If a firearm is necessary for this to happen then its what is needed. Some people would argue that guns kill and that some people who own guns are responsible for mass shootings. The individual who fired the weapon is responsible for the killing not the firearm. People think if you take the guns away it solves the problem but it doesn't. Criminals and some people will still get firearms at any cost. The right to bear arms is yours and you shouldn't allow the government to take that right. In 1928, Germany the Nazis created a firearm registration and by the early 1930's they used this registration system to locate and confiscate firearms. With the population disarmed and a firearm ban in place the public had no way to defend

...safer with people owning firearms, so it does not make much sense for them to be taking the guns away. They are spying on us by the use of drones and eavesdropping in our phone calls, denying both claims. The government can come up with simpler solutions that would widen the amount of safety and privacy in our country, and help many Americans regain trust in their country’s leader.
As you now know, gun ownership is a very arguable topic. Countless people believe that guns will help citizens protect themselves when targeted for a crime, whereas, a large handful of citizens say that guns “help deteriorate the quality of life in our communities” (Roth 1). What if all the guns in the world just vanished?
Guns, Crime, and Freedom states that, no gun law which restricts the right of law-abiding citizens to own guns has been proven to reduce crime or homicides, not even the Brady Law and the “Clinton Crime Bill.” These two laws st...
American citizens have the fundamental right to defend themselves. Americans also have the right to resist any crime that as the potential to cause great bodily harm or damage. To ignore these rights would be completely ignorant. Here in America, the right to carry weapons to defend oneself is a huge privilege that citizens of some other developed countries do not have. Healthy American citizens should rightfully carry weapons to defend themselves from any act of violence committed against or directed towards them.
Taking guns away from people would make it harder for them to protect themselves and their property. If an intruder was to come into a person’s home, and if guns were outlawed due to excessive gun control, then that person would have to protect themselves by some other means. Overt gun control could put a person’s life and their property in danger. However, because of the Second Amendment found in the Bill of Rights, a U.S. Citizen has the right to own and bear arms. It seems the government would just dig themselves in a hole if they were to try to remove that amendment. They would have to deal with Congress and all the pe...
One of the biggest issues facing our nation today seems to be gun control. The government is constantly proposing legislation for more and more gun laws. There are people that feel strongly on both sides of this issue. Neither side wants more gun violence; the question is how to control gun violence.
One of many controversial topics in the United States is gun control. It is clearly written in the Second Amendment of the Constitution that the people will have the right to bear arms. Recently; however, people have been misusing those firearms and have been harming others with them. The government is trying to regulate the sale, distribution, and ownership of guns because of this reason. Some of the arguments being made by the politicians is simply if the government has the right to be able to control, and if it does, the effectiveness of the public policy to regulate guns.
Will gun control stop harm or protect citizens? Today, the opinions of Americans vary on whether guns harm or protect citizens. However, gun control is not a new controversial issue. In 1924, U.S. Senator, Robert La Follete, said, “Our choice is not merely to support or oppose gun control but to decide who can own which guns under what conditions.” This proves that gun control has been a concern to Americans since the mid- twentieth century, and possibly even earlier than that. Even with the U.S. laws limiting the access of guns, it has not stopped the misuse of guns. Thirteen school shootings have been recorded in the United States within the first six weeks of 2014. Gun control is an effort to stop crimes by limiting who can access guns. Guns are very powerful weapons that have a great impact on society. They can change a family’s life forever. The destruction they cause cannot be reversed or taken back, and one trigger could take a person’s life away. For these reasons, government interference is needed to restrict the harm guns can cause. The U.S. government should place more limitations on guns because of the carelessness and misuse of guns, which has led to an increasing number of crimes and violent actions against the innocent.

... have to lose in order for people to actually start trying to remove guns from their grasp? Adults play a role in the violence within children. Some play the good role; trying to stop it, and some, the bad; condoning it. Others don’t play a role at all. Everyone needs to play a good role and work to stop the violence in our children. Imagine a world where our youth don’t try to kill each other. Where they don’t necessarily get along but they don’t turn it into violence either. A peaceful place, with hardly any guns, and safer than before. Sounds good right? Well, how about we make it happen?
Gun Control has become a very important and controversial issue in america today. Many citizens of this great country are beginning to question if guns are as useful or if they’re just cold metal death makers. Gun Control: The Great Cop-out by Jared Michaud and Gun Control and the Constitution by David B. Rivkin Jr. and Andrew M. Grossman professionally carry across their anti-gun control ideals; whereas The Second Amendment is all for Gun Control by Adam Winkler and Making Gun Control Happen by Patrick Radden Keefe display the pro-gun control side. In my views, guns are a very necessary tool that if used correctly can be a valuable source of self defence and protection when help is too far away, or unwilling to come. Rather than put more restrictions on guns and gun owners, we should be able to freely protect ourselves and our fellow man.
