Gun control and gun rights is one of the most talked about in America today, the Second Amendment of the Constitution is a right which all American should have, the right to bear arms. Gun rights and gun control groups alike have been hovering over Congress for decades to craft a legislation for each of the opposing favors. In the year 2015 there were 353 mass shootings and in the last decade there has been over 4,000,000 victims assaulted. Twice in the past two years the issue has reached the nation’s highest court, but what has gotten gun control to be such a serious subject?

The bill made it a requirement to federally license dealers to conduct background checks on handgun purchases. President Bill Clinton in 1993, initially called for a five-day waiting period. But that requirement was phased out when the FBI launched its National Instant Criminal Background Check System in November 1998. The next year, Reagan and two fellow ex-presidents, Gerald Ford and Jimmy Carter, signed a letter endorsing a new round of legislation that banned the manufacture, possession and sale of certain combat-style weapons. It also limited the size of the magazine that feed ammunition into those heavy firearms. This was referred to as the "Assault Weapons Ban," the law expired in 2004 during the George W. More bills will be passed enforcing control due to high levels of murders and shootings like the Dallas shooting in July of 2016. ISIS has been a threat to our country for many years. Now that ISIS terrorists have invaded into the county and gun control has hindered firearm purchasing to the people of the United States, it has made it extremely difficult to defend our families and our home. It’s up to law enforcement to take most of the weight, but there is only so many blue uniforms. So, has gun control gone too far or is it actually helping? Is the Second Amendment slowly fading away from the U.S? Is it “We the People” or “We the Government”
