Society has created the word feminism to be a negative thing. When people bring up the concept of feminism automatically there is a perception about it that isn’t a good one. The term “feminist” wasn’t coined until the late 1800s, in France said as feminisme. The word wasn’t introduced to the United States . until the early 1900s and was not used by women until the 1960s. Early feminists were more likely to identify themselves as suffragists. The feminist movement has progressed greatly in the last several decades in periodic waves by revealing women’s rights issues and women coming together to fight the oppression they faced on a daily basis.

Women’s rights have increased by there is more works that needs to be done. There needs to come a time when women are valued as much as men are. There needs to come a time where women aren’t raped or if they are, it won’t led to “how much did she drink or what was she wearing. There needs to come a time where women can walk down the street where she doesn’t have to worry about been sexually harassed. One day society needs to make it acceptable for men to show emotion, without it being “gay” or men being comfortable with liking the things that they want to like. One day, society needs to make the word gay into a positive light not a negative one. People have put this stigma on men and women this is almost scary and makes people not want to b who they really are. Society has a long way to go and feminist will never stop fighting for what boys, girls, women and men
