Introduction
An essential part and daily use of human life today is technology. There has been major transformation in society and among businesses, dramatically since the last twenty years. The world has now been compact with the use of science and technology which is ever emerging, (UKEssays). Technology can be considered as one of the greatest change in the world today. This change has resulted in provident solutions to some of the world’s most pressing global challenges ranging from the scarcity of resources to global environmental change, (Afeyan, 2014). There have been diverse technological developments across Information Technology, biotechnology, nanotechnology and satellite communications technology. These have been dramatically changing the landscapes of industries resulting in economic and policy implications, (Srinivasan, 2008).
The development of grid-scale electricity storage is one such emerging technology. This technology is also referred to as “holy grail” will be beneficial to electrical grid managers as electricity cannot be stored directly. However with the use of this technology the managers must continuously ensure that the power fed into the generating stations, has an equal amount of powers as the overall demand from customers. There are challenges experienced with different methods of storing power. This is seen where fossil fuels releases green house gases, wind and solar systems are extremely intermittent. This is so as an uncontrollable amount of energy is stored only when there are favorable weather conditions which can pose an issue for consumers and grid managers when they require energy, (Afeyan, 2014). With this, many countries are now aiming to replace carbon-based generators with a clean energy m...
