Greek Art today is known as, "Classical Art." Some of the most famous Greek architecture was presented in the medium of: sculptures, pottery or even built in temples more than 2,000 years ago in ancient Greece. We know about some of the Greek masterpieces that have been lost, such works as: writings, journals and other remains of Greek history. Archeologists and scholars have been searching for centuries for the lost pieces with little success. Through art, Greeks were able to incorporate their fundamental principles of their culture and society. To the Greeks, art was a way to reach the generations to come. One thing the Greeks learned to master was Arete, which means excellence: It speaks of the fulfillment of a person to reach their full potential in the expression of art. Greek architecture is another display where their creativity was reflected and displayed. The temples were works of art full of detail from the sculptures of their gods to the pillars that held the temple up.
