Upon entering the world, we know very little and as we grow our parents and family help us learn how to survive. Imagine living in a time where you could hardly communicate and you 're only two worries were food and survival. Welcome to the Stone Age.
Joseph Campbell once said, "the cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek.". The humans who roamed the earth during the Paleolithic period certainly made significant achievements which led to many great advancements. One significant achievement was learning to communicate through paintings, drawings, and symbols. Creating these works of art, led the Paleolithic people towards a greater understanding of "nature 's beauty and power” (Stearns, Peter N.) and it gave them a new spiritual sense of the world. This new spiritual value on life led the people to use paintings as communication and as a way to teach lessons and tell stories which ultimately was a fundamental part of their mostly non verbal culture. According to our textbook, “ The greatest achievement of Paleolithic people was the sheer spread of the human species over much of the earth 's surface” (Stearns, Peter N.). Prehistory is a period of time from which we do not have a written record of. Our understanding of prehistory constantly changes as we explore and search deeper for new meanings. We only know what we can dig up and find and because we keep finding new items belonging to the Paleolithic period and the Neolithic period, our knowledge of these times is under continuous change. As our technology continues to advance, we are able to construct an idea of how our ancestors lived and function. Everyone looks at events differently and new perspectives unearth themselves all the time, so it is important to keep an open mind when it comes to the ever changing timelines and
