Great post Chad on job satisfaction. I can agree with you that while pay and benefits could have a great impact on job satisfaction, being satisfied in the workplace is not always directly tied to money. In my post, I discussed job dissatisfaction, and in my personal situation I felt that I would have been more satisfied at my job if I felt my voice wasn’t being heard and disinterest in my professional development. I no longer was satisfied with my job because the company lost interest in caring for their employees as the company grew. However, researcher Gul(2015), believes that there is a relationship with development of an employee and expansion of a company in that in order to grow successful , a company must make time to develop an effective …show more content…

I now work for the DOD and content within the position I hold but, during this process and this discussion, I was reminded that while a job is important for my basic needs, it should never come to a point where I link complete satisfaction with an organization or a job position. Positions and organizations change and as a result I can always feel empty or unsatisfied. Relying on Jesus, however, I will always lead to complete fulfillment and satisfaction. Even when things change within the workplace, I can rest assure that my savoir never changes and to remain positive that change, no matter the situation, is within his will. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8, New International Version) References Fischer, K.J, (2012) Lesson 2- Individual Behavior in the Organization [PowerPoint Slides]. How many of us go to our dream job every day? Even more if we do think and feel we are in the job of our dreams; does it coincide with God’s calling for us? As long as your job is legitimate work, you are serving God by creating good. While going through this course, Principles of Self Management in Business I struggled with relating my career as a Configuration Technician with doing God’s work. While fulfilling the reading and journal requirements for this course, I have realized how my position at Haworth is doing God’s work. I am serving external and internal customers, let alone ...

Transformational leaders want everyone to find their personal meaning in life because it will help each individual to seek a job that is meant for them. According to Ghadi, Fernando, and Caputi (2013), “individuals seek to experience meaningful work that maximizes their sense of motivation… established the interconnection of meaningful work and personal motivation, and found that meaningful work-maximizes the possibility of intrinsic motivation.” Once an employee finds a job that is meaningful to them, it helps t...

The lack of satisfaction could also cause job burnout, which is exhaustion from work that causes resignations in some cases. Some of the factors that can cause job burnout is lack of control, mismatch in value, and unclear work expectations (Job burnout: How to spot it and take action, 2015). Lack of control is the inability to influence decisions that mainly affect your job (Job burnout: How to spot it and take action, 2015). If a person sees that everyone around them is getting a pay raise, it might put them in a lack of control mentality. They would believe that their hard work is being unnoticed, hence lowering their satisfaction and causing burnout in their job. Mismatch in value is when values differ in the workplace when it comes to handling business decisions (Job burnout: How to spot it and take action, 2015). This happens frequently with certain companies. If an employer disagrees with their manager about salary and both parties disagree on certain points, this form of burnout occurs. Unclear work expectations is the uncertainty of authority with supervisors (Job burnout: How to spot it and take action, 2015). This could prevent a person from asking questions about their salary because of the possible approach of supervisor. These forms of burnout due to salary can be very harmful towards somebody, and usually that person would
The problem of job dissatisfaction is a global workplace issue. Although Americans are happier in their jobs, satisfaction in the United States is declining due to downsizing and overburdening. (Robbins & Judge, 2009). Before outlining job dissatisfaction a definition of job satisfaction is needed. Job satisfaction is “[an] individuals’
yes but the level appears that the level of satisfaction from employees with their place of employment seem to be dropping because of pay and promotion. Pay and Promotion are some of the major factors when an employee becomes unsatisfied with their position at their place of employment. Many employers are expecting more work from employees and are not being valued with more money or a more value based title. This is where Organizational commitment falls in an employee may feel the need to be committed to an organization based on the employee’s attachment to the place of employment. Many places of employment are now trying to see how they can better their place of employment for employees in order for them to be more committed to the organization. At my job we now have employment satisfaction surveys that come out every six months for employees. In these surveys the employee must answer a series of questions pertaining to how they feel about the job and its environment. This is an excellent way for the employees to voice their concerns as well as have the company listen to their concerns. This was also seen in the textbook and explained, Effective commitment is an emotional attachment to the organization and a belief in its values; while she disliked the job for whatever reasons, she did like her coworkers and had formed genuine friendships, so it was harder for her to exit because she had an emotional attachment to the
