Growing up, my parents, they always told me keep my grades up, to never put important things aside. They said learn from them, they had my oldest sister at a young age and they were not able to graduate or go back to continue educating them self. They struggle for so long, from buying themselves clothes, to paying the mortgage. Always put school first, work on myself to have the life I want when I am older, my parents said. Saying that, I believe; all the money I am spending, sacrifices I am making, skills I am gaining, and being able to say I fulfilled my goal will be worth it in about seven years for me. Others may disagree with me and some might say, it’s not worth the money, and accumulating debt, but I disagree. Student loans are available …show more content…
Learning to budget comes in handy with resourcefulness as well. I have been forced to be on a budget as in, I have no choice but to budget my own money out, I have learned how save. That way, I am hoping when I am older and in my work force and my budget is not as tight as it is while I am a college student, I will make smarter financial decisions. I will learn independence, like I said I am so use to being around my parents, being away from them is showing me how to be by myself. I am the sole person responsible for me 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. I have learned to prioritize my tasks, I learned to switch my paste. Often times I have to do more than one thing at a time. I know what needs to be done and when it needs to be done. I learned to schedule my time based on the task at hand and get things done based on the level of importance. I have learned to work with others from a lazy person to someone who wants to control everything. I now know how to deal with others and have adapted to skill sets required in every workplace. All these skills are something that I could use in my work field. I learn creativity and innovation from my college experience and my interaction with my
I was raised in an encouraging household where both of my parents greatly valued education. Although they were high school graduates, neither could afford to attend college; a combination of family and financial woes ultimately halted their path. As a result, my parents frequently reminded me that getting a good education meant better opportunities for my future. To my parents, that seemed to be the overarching goal: a better life for me than the one they had. My parents wanted me to excel and supported me financially and emotionally of which the former was something their parents were not able to provide. Their desire to facilitate a change in my destiny is one of many essential events that contributed to my world view.
For the past few months I have been attending college as a first year, but recently I have started to ask myself is college really worth it? Or is there a better alternative other than going on the traditional path to college? Furthermore if there are alternative path instead of attending college, why aren’t we taking them? In many situations we do have the option of acquiring special licenses and certifications that can get us the careers we desire, but without the need to attend college, but if we can do things like getting licenses and certificates then why do most of us choose to go to college knowing that there is a better option? Even more, a better option that will probably not cost you as much in the long run. Yet millions upon millions of students make the choice of going to college every year, for this I ask why?
I have always had a strong belief that I could pass college like I did in high school. Always relying on those quick study sessions before a test or having the teacher going over the material right before a test. But boy was I wrong. In my first test I learned the hard way that studying is essential in college.
Being the first one to attend college in my family has pushed me to continue my education. Now in today’s society a college degree is so important. I want my parents to be proud of me, and be happy with my high level career after college, and that starts with my education. I also hope to be an influence on my younger brother and show him that a college education is important. He looks up to me, and I need to be a good role model for him. I truly just want to get the best education and job for myself worth and make myself happy.
One thing that people often overlook when writing an essay is not what the college can do for you, but what you can do for the college. With that in mind the attributes that I possess would make a great addition to and benefit the college greatly. My ability to speak in front of large crowds, lead, and my thirst for knowledge have sshasfdafy
Attending college is worth it. Students who get a college education and graduate have many more life changing opportunities than those who don 't; the debates of studying after high school has been ongoing for many years but statistics have proven that majority to all students who go to college achieve more life goals than the average high school graduate. They get more work benefits, life skills, higher paying salaries, etc. There is a downside to everything in life such as debt is to college education. However, the price students pay is so small compared to what the benefits they receive after graduating from college.
Is College worth It American’s obsession on whether or not graduates from high school have to go to college is a problematic issue of today in society. Many people will argue that college is not worth going to due to the strains that it puts on one’s life and the debt of loans that develops during the student’s duration of college. On the other hand, plenty of evidence suggests that, on average, a college degree is worth it. Based on these ideas, colleges are worth going to because, most college graduates upon closer examination have said that colleges provide many outlets to explore different careers, college graduates receive higher paying jobs, and college graduates gain more interpersonal skills.
My first year in college has been a rewarding experience. As I look back on my Why College, Why Now essay, I realize that I have gained a tremendous amount of knowledge about myself. I am proud that I accomplished my goals I made in my first year of college and I exceeded my expectations. I still have the same goal for the future, but I added more goals for the future. I am attending Wilmington University because I want to make my future brighter. Attending college and earning a degree in communication media will help me obtain an exciting job as a professional journalist.
My parents have this perfect life for me pictured in their heads, and the first thing they see me doing is going to college. They expect the best of me, and so by going to college, I will not only have fulfilled their goals for me, but I will have accomplished one of the goals I have set for myself. In our culture, when parents come to the age where they can’t support themselves, it is the duty of the children to look after them.
Attending college provides life time benefits. However, the rising prices of tuition is making people second guess if college is worth going to. In the article “Is College Worth it? Clearly, new data say” Leonhardt claims the significance of going to college, and the advantages it holds. Later stating, “The decision not to attend college for fear that it’s a bad deal is among the most economically irrational decisions anybody could make in 2014.” I agree with Leonhardt 's claim, college is a smart choice, and fear or money should ncot stop you from attending. By going to college there are more job options, more opportunities, in the long run it saves you more money, and at the very least you have a degree to fall back on.
When I grow up I want to help, children, families, marriages, anyone and everyone that I possible can. No one deserves to be trapped and go through the system for years on end, although I am glad that I was never in the system my family was thrown into that life for about six months. The only reason… one family mentally could not take care of their children, this is why I know its my job to help. The main experience that I have gone through that truly showed me what I wanted to due happened right before I became a freshman in high school. The entire summer before I started school, my sister was having serious problems with CPS, and because of this there were a major part of my life. Every time they would go and visit her house me and my parents
Growing up we are always encouraged to go and pursue our dreams, but what if we didn't know what dream we wanted to pursue? Going into my first semester of community college, I didn’t have a clue on what I wanted to study. I had an interest in computers, so I registered for an introductory course in computer science. I don’t know if it was the professor or the general atmosphere of the class, but I was immediately hooked. I found myself wanting to learn more about the subject. I’ve read the recommended books, watched videos, and had discussions with my professor about what I learned in class. I couldn’t get enough.
Many years ago I remember my parents telling me that in order for me to become successful a college education was a must. They always told me that if I wasn’t in school I could no longer live at home. Both of my parents attended college but neither of them finished. They did not want me to go down that same road because they really regret not getting their degrees.
College are the best years of life. These are the years when you have the best friends and you enjoy a lot. Have you ever been the new kid? Have you ever been a new kid to 6 different high schools? Well even if you have been the new kid at least once you know how it feels. The first day you walk into a school you have never been too. Everyone is staring at you. Inside you are freaking out, wondering if you are going to walk into the wrong class or be late. We all know there is lunch during school and this is a hard time for a new student.
