Also, the instructor would randomly chose a student to discuss a particular concept on the spot. If called upon, you were expected to reply with a creative answer. Art class is pretty much self explanatory. It’s an art class; you use creativity all the time because art requires creativity.”
I then asked the question, can you provide me with an example of what you believe a creative classroom environment within the college setting would look like? John stated…
“To me, a creative classroom environment is when the instructor grants his or her students the freedom and ability to interact with one another. This gives me the opportunity to learn from my peers and learn different perspectives that I may have not necessarily thought of on my own. Brainstorming with others is a great way to learn and come closer to appropriate answers and solutions. A creative classroom is one where the instructor is not lecturing the whole time, but makes the information interesting through discussions and examples that can be connected to the outside world.

Reflective points that I took away from this clinical interview are as follows: I must always think of what is best for the student in order for them to remain engaged in a meaningful learning environment. In saying this, It will be in the best interest of each student if I embrace a counseling approach that will allow them to engage their senses and perceptions, to reflect on past meaning-filled memories, and help to inspire the creativity that they already possess. The data from this project will remind me to incorporate a learning environment that is pleasant in order to bring out student emotions while feeling comfortable to share their good and bad memories. This way, I will be adept in helping him or her, as well as myself, to explore the connections so life and academic obstacles may be conquered.
