Experiences As a thirty-one-year-old I feel awkward walking into a classroom full of young adults who just graduated from high school. Sometimes it is difficult for me to have any kind of common interests with my classmates because majority of them are very young. I try to do my best to be friendly and kind to everyone, but sometimes it is easier for me to talk to other veterans who I can relate to. Due to my financial status as a nineteen-year-old I was not able to attend college right after high school. Often I feel discouraged because it took me over ten years to continue my education, but now that I have taken on this challenge I am looking forward to accomplishing an important life goal. This semester, I have learned so much about History and about myself. When Christopher Columbus decided to take a voyage, trying find a shorter route to India and China, but ultimately ended up finding a whole new continent it is what started the overall exploration and exploitation of a new world. After Christopher Columbus discovery, other explorers followed suit from other western European countries, to lay claim to new found land, raw goods, and gold. Such exploitation affected the native inhabitants of the new world, the main cause for many of their deaths was the exposure to small pox and other diseases after encountering the western European explorers.
