Final Reflection
To experience all of these things in this quarter, I did challenge myself and push myself to do better and harder. First thing when I entered this class I thought this class might be easier than I expect to, but I was wrong. I was surprised after one week that the teacher gave me ton of homework that I had to do. I felt overwhelming by that. However, I really wanted to pass this class, so I made myself get used to it. After three-four week pass by I felt everything was on the right track. I felt myself did good and have more knowledge what I went through. Then now, this quarter was almost done, I felt happy that I could make it to the end. So that helps my essay developed a lot. Therefore, the more mistake I got was the better understand for me. I am kind of get more idea what is that about and started get used to it. My sentences had become better since after three or four tried. I was glad to see that result. Beside that, my favorite community activity was the first one because I loved cooking. It was one of my friend presentations and she invited me to come. She knew that I loved cooking so she planned to pick this project and had me help her get over it. I really enjoy her presentation and it was good to know the truth about cooking world. I learned new material by doing this research. I knew how to use citation and make works cited. This is one of the most important elements of my research paper because it helps the reader know that my information is true or not. My weakness was shy to go out except something had to be required. My observation started at John elementary in Southlake, I was appreciative enough to observer my 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Zock I loved being able to view the classroom in a different perspective. Once I was finish observing Mrs. Zock, I went over to her “switch’’ teacher classroom where I observed Mrs. Cheek. After I was done their I made my way over to Dawson Middle school where I observed Mrs. Metcalf a 8th grade science teacher in her class room was an special education teacher to help out student in that period. Once I was done I went to Mr. Sutton room, who was a Social Student teacher for 8th grade. Then I finished my day with Miss. Bankhead, who was a special education teacher for the student that where considered special needs.
As a writer there are many elements of writing that I struggle with, especially when composing an essay. When writing an essay, there are usually many skills that need to be used in order to be successful with the writing assignment. Many times in writing I struggle with explaining and fully developing the supporting details and ideas in my essay. I would also like to improve on incorporating clear topic sentences and concluding sentences, connecting my paragraphs ideas back to my thesis. Lastly, improvement can be made in my writing by avoiding awkward or wordy sentences. Writers face numerous challenges in their writing but strive to overcome or improve these challenges with each piece they write.
This week in the classroom, I wanted to continue working with the one child in the classroom who was diagnosed with ADHD. The child often showed off task behavior while in class, which was an issue. We had to move his desk away from the rest of the class to help with his distractibility. We also had to introduce a weekly work assignment schedule, so that he would get a sticker when he completed a task since it took him longer than the rest of the class to complete an assignment. This modification seemed to help a little but he was still struggling with completing his tasks. Therefore, this week I wanted to try and help the child succeed better in the class.
This week for clinical I got to preform my first dressing change on the surgical floor, as well as felt like there was a lot of issues going on between the nurses and students. I felt ignored and disregard by my co-assign and missed out on some great opportunities to practice my skills.
Firstly, my strengths in writing have developed much over time. My struggles in the past are now my advantages. One of my struggles in the past was organization in what I wrote. It was difficult for me to keep my writing organized in a way in which the reader would understand what order events had happened in. Now, with the help of an essay outline, my papers have become much easier to follow. The essay outline has made it simpler for me to create that structure that a paper needs. Another weakness of mine that has improved is providing a strong thesis. Before this year, I did not understand how to properly write a thesis. I did not even know where a thesis sentence was meant to be placed
I will start off with the question I asked at the beginning of week one. What are your strengths? At the beginning of this class, I answered this question by stating, I did not know what my strengths were if someone asked me. After taking this course I can now say that my strengths are, I am an achiever, the intellection, the realtor, the learner, and input. All of the words are what describes me in life. As time progressed. I realized that I have been using these skill the entire time. However, I never really knew I was using these skill until I took the Strength 's Finder Assessment. I have discovered that when a person knows their strengths it can lead them to their purpose. This year has changed me a lot. Coming to college, leaving my parents, and leaving Trinidad has been very different for me. My life has changed a lot and I have changed a lot, but thankfully in mostly good ways. This class has been one of my most knowledge ones. Although this class has defiantly not been one of my highest grades, I feel like its one of the classes I have learned a lot in. I have bitter sweet feelings about that, because in some of my classes I ended with and A or B, while this one it felt like a struggle the entire semester to keep my grade up, however, I fell like I have learned more information that will stick with me from this class than from others.
I believe that the most important thing in teaching and learning is to insure the future success of the students. That’s why I am committed to placing the needs of the learner at the centre of everything I do. My teaching goal is to link course performance with the development of general learning skills, general chemical science skills, and specific subject matter skills.
Through my own experiences, and as enforced by others' opinions in the profession, I have found that teaching is one of the most rewarding careers. Not only are you placed in the position of instructing and guiding children and young adults through the life long learning process, but you are able to give back to the schools and communities which have supported your early education and experiences that opened you up to a bright future. In becoming an educator, I hope to someday share the knowledge and lend the helping, supportive hand that I was once given, allowing students to formulate their own perspectives of the multicultural society and world around them. Teaching is a career I have been interested in pursuing throughout high school, and as my experiences and study in the field expands, I feel that my desire to teach will grow stronger and develop more soundly.
Teachers face with a lot of daily choice problems, such as, how classrooms and curriculums should be organized, how students' behaviors should be interpreted, how learning time can be protected, and others. Sometimes these problems seem to be so ordinary that, teacher need to solve the problem automatically. But in the teaching process there are also complicated choices about difficult problems that, if left unaddressed, often increasing. These difficult choices call for teachers to engage in sophisticated reflection (including self-reflection).

Having the opportunity to observe and work in classes while interview a teacher, I have gained insight and knowledge about my future career choice. It was a great experience that has done nothing but help myself become better educated about the daily life of teachers and the working classrooms. During my time in the classroom, I learned more about the children as well as the profession of teaching. It was an experienced that opened my eyes to the actual reality of teaching. Having the chance to sit down and interview a teacher, I learned more about the assessments that are so important, the struggles that go along with the career and what is needed from myself to become a well rounded educator.
Each person has his or her own style of learning. Learning styles include visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. In the questionnaire, I learned that I am very much a visual learner. This reflection will show what I have learned about my unique learning style and how understanding learning styles of the children I teach will be helpful as I become a teacher.
Overall my experience of being in Lingleville ISD was a great experience that allowed me to learn a lot not only about the students in the classroom, but also helped me learn a lot about myself. Going in to this classroom I expected to only learn things about classroom management and maybe a few strategies. After spending a few days in this room I learned many other things. I did learn about classroom management but I also learned about content, strategies, organization, lesson planning, and inclusion adaptations. I learned that an inclusion special education student can really thrive being in a mainstream classroom, not only academically but also socially. This student is a difficult read and is difficult to build rapport with. Since she is so shy, she does not come forth with conversation and therefore, I know her the least out of my students. I attribute some of this to her age, demeanor, lack of confidence, and shyness. Even when I have the student one-on-one, I have to pry for information about school or casual conversation. There are other times when she catches me off guard and is very talkative, but only about topics she is willing to discuss.
