Since the age of two, I have been dancing. I have been involved in lyrical and classical ballet, contemporary, pointe, hiphop, jazz and tap. When I turned 6 I also took up gymnastics. Through middle school I danced, and did gymanstics as well as softball and soccer. I loved these sports but when high school hit, I had to pick one and I chose cheerleading. I chose this sport because it was not only a extraordinary team athletically but they were extremely involved with the community. We had fundraisers for less fortunate children multiple times and even got to interact with them every winter. The leadership role on the cheer team taught me so much, we lead the entire student body to have school spirit and respect at the football games every friday night. My senior year I decided to switch back to dance and tried out for my high school dance team, and made it! It has been such a blessing to me by showing me even more leadership and how to serve others at our school and in the community. I took up my first job sophomore year of high school and have stuck with it ever since. I currently still work there, Enchanted Beach Weddings. In this job I work labor and I am also one of the head photographers. We set up beautiful weddings on the beach and then I am in charge of directing them and leading the bride, groom and everyone else through the wedding. While I am doing that, I am also taking the wedding photography. It is a super stressful job to have couple’s wedding day experience in your hands and control, but I have never had a bad experience with it and am so priveleged to be a part of such an important day for couples about 75 times each year. On the side of this job, I have always had a fun job to make a little extra money by work... ... middle of paper ... ...hool and work and life in general. I did not strive to do my best in high school and especially my dual enrollment classes. I was not ever thinking about my future and started not coming to classes. Once I accepted God in my life Junior Summer, all that changed. I realized I was on a negative path and God helped me turn my life around. Senior year is going wonderful so far, my grades are the best they have ever been and I am busy as ever with work, school, church, and volunteer work. I love it this way, I believe staying busy requires me to stay on task and get a lot done, that is the lifestyle I have to take to college. Although that bad patch in high school lowered my grades and performance, making it more difficult to get into college, I am thankful it happened so I could learn from it before heading off to a new chapter in my life, hopefully at Auburn University!
When I was about six or seven years old, I started cheerleading because my older sister, Tiffany, was a cheerleader (and what little girl doesn’t want to be just like their older sister?). Thanks to Tiffany, and, of course, my mom for signing me up and getting me where I need to be, I found a love and passion for something I would cherish for the rest of my life.
As a child I was not in to many sports or involved in school activities. Going through high school I figured out that being involved in a sport or a school club would make my high school experience better. The first and only sport I chose to do was track. Track changed my whole high school experience and life. I learned to never give up, and it kept me out of trouble throughout my four years of high school.
Regretfully, when I entered high school I did not realize how hard I had to work to get what I wanted. I went to my classes, did my work, but never really pushed myself to my full abilities. I thought that as long as I graduated with decent grades I would be able to get into college and really focus then. But as high school quickly came to an end I realized that I was not as well prepared for college, as I would have liked.
I carried my passion for dance along with me when I transitioned into high school, and into college as well. My role as a cheerleader in high school aided in the maintenance of my physical and mental well-being. I felt most empowered when I was performing on stage, and when I was able to enthuse the crowd with my lively facial expressions and body movements. Furthermore, I enjoyed expressing my creativity through dance routines I choreographed for school assemblies and cheer competitions. I have always been involved in sports in some way or another. I was team captain in every sport imaginable in elementary school. Junior high I continued to be involved in sports, but it wasn't until high school started that I really got into it. I played soccer, softball and basketball at Rogers High School. I particularly loved soccer. Just playing it gave me a rush I had never felt before. Also knowing that this sport took a lot of hard work and dedication gave me a sense of satisfaction, because I knew that I put everything I had into it. Putting a lot of dedication and hard work into something may prove to be useful in the future.
Cheerleading was one of my favorite activities to do. I have been a cheerleader since Kindergarden. I use to push myself again and again to make sure all of my routines and chants looked as good as they could look. Since I was younger I have always been hard on myself and failing/not making the team wasn't an option. From the minute I got home I practiced until my arms hurt from tightening them to get a perfect motion.
The activity that I cherish the most and am the proudest of is playing drums for my school’s marching band. After the long, arduous nights of making sure our drill is perfect and playing the show repeatedly until it becomes second nature to us, marching band is the one activity that I am always striving to be better in. It taught me that if one wants to achieve greatness, one must be willing to put a serious amount of effort into everything one attempts. It instructed me that the road to success is suffused with deterrents and that failure is a state that we must become comfortable with. I’ve always been the type of person that truly enjoys athletics and have participated in nearly all sports offered to me. I started playing sports in elementary with club softball and basketball. As I entered my middle and high school years I was able to add the school sanctioned sports to my list of activities. This afforded me the opportunity of competing in volleyball, basketball, golf, track and softball. The camaraderie and life lessons of sports seemed invaluable to me.
I love to dance and sing over anything. I’ve been singing since I could talk and dancing since I could walk. I did my first solo at church when I was 3 and that was also around I joined the dance team at church. I currently still dance at church I’ve never stopped because I love it that much. My High School life has helped shape the way for my college experiences that I will face. My senior year in high school is not the same as many other high school students. I am taking many advanced classes to help me prepare for college. These classes help me better understand exactly how much harder I must work to succeed.
Good afternoon everyone. Friends, family, staff members, honored guests and fellow graduates. On behalf of the Grad Class of 2016, we were selected by our class to give some parting words. Today is our day. After thirteen years of knowing only these walls around us, our time here has come to an end. We are officially stepping forward into our futures. No longer united on one path, as we are now branching off on our own, taking our own paths.
My most favorite activities include entertaining an audience. Dance has been a part of my life for years. A way to grow and prosper into a better individual, dance involves training and skill. Taking jazz, tap, ballet and lyrical, dance has been a safe home for me to go to in need. During school and outside of school at Robin Dawn Academy, dance helps me in distress as well as work to becoming a better athlete. Cheerleading is also one of my favorite activities as well. During high school I participated in dance team, football and basketball cheerleading, marching band, color guard, concert band, jazz band, pep band, choir, select choir, drama, Resistance Skills Leaders, National Honor Society, GSA, Skills, Big Buddy, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and speech. I always had something to do, and I enjoyed staying busy. Participating helped me find a place in school. In big school participating gives you a new group of friends. Perry is not very big, so everyone that I was on a team with, I already knew. Doing all of the extra curricular activities that I did, really helped me develop strong emotional bonds with many people that I knew. It taught me to encourage others and that positive reinforcement will always work better than punishments. It showed me that being a leader isn’t about because the person with all of the ideas or the most vocal person, but being the person that inspires others to be creative and help share their thoughts and to lead them in the right direction.
Those obstacles have made me a stronger person than I was before and I am thankful for them. I also have God to thank because without him, I wouldn 't have made it through these past four years. He was with me the entire journey, even in the moments where it seemed like he wasn 't. With college I will further my computer career making more successful in the field I enjoy doing. The gateway to a good future is college and that is why I plan on going to college. College is the most important goal of my life. It is the goal that I mostly focused on throughout my entire career. This year is the most important year of my life: it is the turning point of my life. The way I act, what I do, the classes I take. Everything matters.
