Recommended: Culture in dance

Every year, collegiate hip-hop dance crews hold auditions to bring in new talented dancers onto their teams. Despite whether you’ve been training in dance all your life, just a couple years, or you’ve never done such a thing before, you might want to give it a shot at auditioning for a team that will sky-rocket your dancing abilities. Before we get started, remember, the number one rule; don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and embarrass yourself if you don’t believe you’re as fantastic as them. Just show them what you got. Trust me, the dance community will probably be the nicest, funniest, and most talented group of people you’ll probably ever meet. First off, sit yourself down and evaluate your reasons for wanting to join the team in the first place. Maybe it’s because you look up to certain choreographers and directors on that team or maybe you’re just in love with the team’s style of dancing and you want to grow in that style. When you’re able to list out your “why”, it’ll help you focus on your goals throughout this intimidating process of auditioning. Also know what you’re getting yourself into. It’s just a polite thing to do and it’ll show them that you’re enthusiastic and eager to get out there, grow, learn, and be on their team. Despite the results you receive, you’ll have had a great experience to keep in memory. Pushing yourself out of your comfort zone to even audition is an amazing accomplishment to be proud of. If you make the team, welcome to the dance community and say goodbye to your sleep schedule because when others are sleeping, that’s when they’re practicing. If you didn’t make the team, keep up the good work and try again next time. Now, get your dancing self out on the dance pavement, and audition for your dream

If one were to observe the most popular music from artist in the 80’s until now, they would notice a definitive change in its overall message. If hip-hop continues on its current route it will become a musical genre known solely for its references to sex, drugs, and violence.
