Every year, collegiate hip-hop dance crews hold auditions to bring in new talented dancers onto their teams. Despite whether you’ve been training in dance all your life, just a couple years, or you’ve never done such a thing before, you might want to give it a shot at auditioning for a team that will sky-rocket your dancing abilities. Before we get started, remember, the number one rule; don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and embarrass yourself if you don’t believe you’re as fantastic as them. Just show them what you got. Trust me, the dance community will probably be the nicest, funniest, and most talented group of people you’ll probably ever meet.
First off, sit yourself down and evaluate your reasons for wanting to join the team in the first place. Maybe it’s because you look up to certain choreographers and directors on that team or maybe you’re just in love with the team’s style of dancing and you want to grow in that style. When you’re able to list out your “why”, it’ll help you focus on your goals throughout this intimidating process of auditioning. Also know what you’re getting yourself into. Being on a dance team might seem cool when you’re just watching them, but do know it takes a lot of passion and dedication to physically be on one.
Believe it or not, dance teams are like miniature families in a huge community of dancers. You’ll want to get to a point where it feels like you’re already on the team you want to audition for. The easiest way to do this is to train with the team. Most teams will hold dance workshops that are open to everyone who is interested in dancing with them. They’ll be having different team members teaching different choreography to whoever wants to attend. It’ll give you a feel of what the...

...reestyle as much and as long as you can. This is personally my favorite part of dance auditions.
After the audition is over, make sure to thank everyone who taught and judged the audition before you leave for the night. It’s just a polite thing to do and it’ll show them that you’re enthusiastic and eager to get out there, grow, learn, and be on their team. Despite the results you receive, you’ll have had a great experience to keep in memory. Pushing yourself out of your comfort zone to even audition is an amazing accomplishment to be proud of. If you make the team, welcome to the dance community and say goodbye to your sleep schedule because when others are sleeping, that’s when they’re practicing. If you didn’t make the team, keep up the good work and try again next time. Now, get your dancing self out on the dance pavement, and audition for your dream team.

Essay on Hip Hop Dance

- Hip hop dance was important to African American culture because it allowed them to create their own culture, their own music their own style. When watching Flex is Kings, there are many young men in a video demonstrating what hip hop dance culture has evolved to in the 21st century. They are a contemporary urban dance movement. One can see the emotion and the “seriousness” in their movements. Hip hop dance is these people’s lives’(“Flex Is Kings”). Flex is a type of street dance, sometimes is called “bone breaking” due to their moves looking like a person either has no bones or that they are literally breaking them to create the skin cringing dances they create(“Flexing”)....   [tags: Hip Hop Dance Essays]

Community Based Hip Hop Dance Intervention Essay

- Despite the appealing use of street dance to promote health among youth at-risk, it is surprising that only few studies have attempted to examine the effects of such programs. So far, there are only 3 empirical studies (Beaulauc et al., 2011; Harris et al., 2012; Romero, 2012) identified from journal publications which used street dance to improve health and wellbeing among youth at-risk. One case study (Leafloor, 2012) is also included in this review to gain more insight. Other studies of hip-hop and youth tend to focus on hip-hop culture as a bad influence for youth in regards to risky sexual and aggressive behaviours (e.g: Munoz-Laboy et al., 2007)....   [tags: Hip hop dance, Dance, Hip-hop dance, Empiricism]

- Ladies, gentlemen, parents, friends, family, staff, fellow students: Instead of taking up more time and reading my speech, it is available to you at http://www.olen’s_speech.com. Thank you. No, just kidding. But seriously folks... Today we are gathered here to celebrate our graduation from 12 long years of schooling. The education granted to us has been a privilege. - For some of you graduates, this will be the last ceremony you might ever sit through. Most of us, though, and I regret that I am in this group, will sit through many more ceremonies -- ceremonies longer and more tedious that this or anything else you can imagine. If you think this is bad, try a college graduation. Think, that is, attend a wedding. And, if just for a moment you think that that is bad, just be thankful you have never attended or will attend a Bar Mitzvah. The only ceremony I think anybody would truly enjoy attending is a funeral....   [tags: Graduation Speech, Commencement Address]

- Good afternoon. Today I have been asked to speak about graduation past, present and future. My first graduation occurred when I finished kindergarten. This is often where we learn the most basic of principles. This is what I learned: Share everything. Play fair. Don't hit people. Put things back where you found them. Don't take things that are not yours. Say you're sorry when you hurt somebody. Wash your hands before you eat. Don't forget to flush. Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you....   [tags: Graduation Speech, Commencement Address]

- As you inhale the aggregate odor of your senior class for the last time, I’m sure there are many burning questions racing through your minds: “Will I find my place in the world?” If you’re lucky. “Am I really going to graduate a virgin?” Yeah, probably. “Who is that incredibly handsome young man addressing us, and how long do we have the privilege of listening to him?” Howdy, Andrew Gonzales here, and hopefully not long; I realize that your robes are making you sweat, your thongs are making you uncomfortable, and my use of the words “virgin” and “thongs” is making your parents sweaty and uncomfortable....   [tags: Graduation Speech, Commencement Address]

- To the County High School Class of 2012: As you sit in front of me, I know what most of you are thinking at the moment. There are those who are already pondering about what life without high school will be like; those who are debating whether or not to tell your crush tonight about your whispers of adoration you’ve secretly held for four years; some simply want to get out of that ungodly chair, get that thing that isn’t really a diploma but only tells you when to pick up the thing, and then be the first one on the green bus to the grad party — you know who you are....   [tags: Graduation Speech, Commencement Address]

- Good evening parents, teachers, honored guests and soon to be graduates. My name is Ed Burrower, I'm the senior class president. A few weeks ago, I was told that I would be speaking at graduation. I was asked to put together a speech for tonight -- I've become experienced at speech writing over the past couple of weeks. The speech that you are hearing is the fourth one I've written, the recycle bin needs to be emptied at home and I need a new highlighter.
