People are constantly setting goals for themselves in hopes of changing their life or just looking to start something new. Obviously time is a big factor as to when those dreams will come true and how those goals will be achieved, but I know for athletes, it is tough playing their last game and eventually hanging the jersey up. And a common goal that athletes have after kissing that jersey goodbye is to become a coach. After all the years of playing sports and being a part of club teams, can be tiring and too much in the moment, but in the end, after all is said and done, many athletes wish they could go back and play one more game. Be a part of one more victory or championship, or even be able to get their butts kicked during conditioning just one more time. After all, a good way to give back to the sport and to in a way, relive those glory moments, is by coaching. Becoming a coach is nothing easy and comes with a lot of pressure, time and commitment, but can be a fun and easy way to get back into something they once loved as a child and teenager. The best ways to become a successful coach is by connecting with and motivating athletes, making sure winning is not the overall focus, and being confident and open minded.
Because the confidence within an athlete is tough to have and to keep, coaches need to encourage, support, and motivate athletes to be the best that they can be (Duncan). It is important for a coach to know who their strong and weak athletes are and who can take the pressure and who is willing to work hard work compared to others who may not be as determined. In order to do that, coach Todd Hernandez of the Eaton High School girls basketball program states, “Knowledge of your players is key. If a coach can conne...

... manager you take on the role or coach, you need to learn to listen with real focus, suspending all of your judgements and options,” (Duncan). Open minded coaches learn from others and listen to suggestions provided from others sake of creating the right move or adjustment for the team. Coaches must produce confidence in themselves in order to successfully exchange that belief to their athletes.
Athletes dream of becoming a coach after their time is done on the court or the field but don’t ever know the correct ways to do so. Becoming a coach comes with many ups and downs, time and commitment, but only a select few will be successful in their coaching careers if they follow the correct instructions. If coaches connect with their athletes, specify the overall focus, and establish confidence within each other, they will be the most successful coaches they can be.

Graduation Speech: Give as You Have Never Received.

- As we look back on our past we inevitably lose sight of our future, yet as we gaze into the future it seems so difficult to enjoy the present. Some say that we should live for the moment but they're so commonly the ones always whining about the unforeseen. Other say to live for a purpose, they seem inevitably to mean that you should neglect what's truly important in life in the name of money, power and fame. Uncle Sam says to live for your country, but that seems so commonly synonymous with dying for it, and if you do, you are a hero in my eyes....   [tags: Graduation Speech, Commencement Address]

College or University Graduation Speech

- Members of the faculty, parents, guests, and graduates, have no fear. I am well aware that on a day of such high excitement, what you require, first and foremost, of any speaker is brevity. I shall not fail you in this respect. When we arrived at State College, all was new to us and we walked around looking up at everything in awe. As we have been preparing to leave, we were given the chance to see State College from the top of the tallest building, looking down on everything with nostalgic familiarity—inspecting the tiny people that bring State College to life, trying to imagine the countless buses we squeezed to get on, and the hours spent talking to friends....   [tags: Graduation Speech, Commencement Address]

- To the County High School Class of 2012: As you sit in front of me, I know what most of you are thinking at the moment. There are those who are already pondering about what life without high school will be like; those who are debating whether or not to tell your crush tonight about your whispers of adoration you’ve secretly held for four years; some simply want to get out of that ungodly chair, get that thing that isn’t really a diploma but only tells you when to pick up the thing, and then be the first one on the green bus to the grad party — you know who you are....   [tags: Graduation Speech, Commencement Address]

- Good evening parents, teachers, honored guests and soon to be graduates. My name is Ed Burrower, I'm the senior class president. A few weeks ago, I was told that I would be speaking at graduation. I was asked to put together a speech for tonight -- I've become experienced at speech writing over the past couple of weeks. The speech that you are hearing is the fourth one I've written, the recycle bin needs to be emptied at home and I need a new highlighter. Thank you, Mr. Mier, you get an "A+" for your help as my speech teacher but an "F" for saving trees....   [tags: Graduation Speech, Commencement Address]

- "Some people come into our lives and quietly go. Some stay for a while And leave footprints on our hearts And we are never the same again." As I prepared this speech, this quote came to mind as I realized how many of you have left footprints on my heart over the past four years. I have may wonderful memories that I will cherish forever. I remember embarrassing moments when a teacher misunderstood what I said, and then my classmates teased me mercilessly. I remember a time in math class when a student fell asleep and was tied to his chair and chalk dust was thrown all over him....   [tags: Graduation Speech, Commencement Address]

No, just kidding. But seriously folks... Today we are gathered here to celebrate our graduation from 12 long years of schooling. The education granted to us has been a privilege. - For some of you graduates, this will be the last ceremony you might ever sit through. Most of us, though, and I regret that I am in this group, will sit through many more ceremonies -- ceremonies longer and more tedious that this or anything else you can imagine. If you think this is bad, try a college graduation. Think, that is, attend a wedding. And, if just for a moment you think that that is bad, just be thankful you have never attended or will attend a Bar Mitzvah. The only ceremony I think anybody would truly enjoy attending is a funeral....   [tags: Graduation Speech, Commencement Address]

- As you inhale the aggregate odor of your senior class for the last time, I’m sure there are many burning questions racing through your minds: “Will I find my place in the world?” If you’re lucky. “Am I really going to graduate a virgin?” Yeah, probably. “Who is that incredibly handsome young man addressing us, and how long do we have the privilege of listening to him?” Howdy, Andrew Gonzales here, and hopefully not long; I realize that your robes are making you sweat, your thongs are making you uncomfortable, and my use of the words “virgin” and “thongs” is making your parents sweaty and uncomfortable....   [tags: Graduation Speech, Commencement Address]

- It is probably a mistake that I am standing here giving a speech for graduation. In fact it is probably a mistake that I am even graduating from this school at all -- believe me, just as most people in this class I have tested the limits of attendance, of sleeplessness, and of procrastination. At the beginning of my high schooling, I was even testing dropping out ... and if that wasn't a mistake, I don't know what was. After four years of Starr altering our minds, it seemed most fitting for me to spend my four minutes talking about mistakes....   [tags: Graduation Speech, Commencement Address]
