Graduation came quickly. After hearing my phone 's alarm go off, I got up and got ready. Today was the day that I had worked towards for four years. However, I didn’t feel happy or excited. Instead, I felt sad that this stage of my life was over. I went into my car and drove to the ceremony, which was held at the Ambassador Auditorium. I couldn’t wait to walk across the stage and receive my diploma. I would remember this day forever. Once I arrived at the University of Windsor there was students, parents, and friends everywhere, so I couldn 't help but be excited.

I lined up to receive my academic dress with the rest of the class. An entertaining fact that I learned while in line to receive my academic dress was that wearing academic robes or dresses dates back to at least the 12th century. This tradition was based on the fact that in the old days there was not much difference in the dress of the clergyman and academic scholars. To get back to the point, I put on the gown and hat and we lined up to march into the gymnasium to sit down. Soon after we took a seat, we got a chance to hear the different speeches from our school’s faculty. Then we waited to hear our name get called and walked one by one across the stage to receive our degrees. As soon as my name was called, I went up with a big smile on my face and received my diploma. At this point, all I felt was relief and excitement that high school was over and was looking forward to taking on the next milestones in my life. After we watched a video of the graduating class’s photos with a song to make us all emotional. At this point everyone realized what this meant; we threw our hats into the air as tradition and celebrated the fact that we were finally done.

...eep to myself even though I played sports. Secondly, I improved my grades as I went through high school leading up to the final year. I wasn’t the greatest student my first and second year in high school and that was because I didn’t see a point in getting high grades. Thirdly, I made friendships that would last a lifetime. Finally, I developed a fundamental set of skills that I could use in any future career.

The most important thing was that I had good classmates and teachers through the years. My teachers thought me a lot not only about academics but also about life. I was happy to share my high school experience with them. Some of my classmates became a huge part of my life. They were like a second family, but soon I would have to leave them behind. I was unhappy because I was leaving this chapter of my life behind; however, I was excited for what was to come.

College or University Graduation Speech

- Members of the faculty, parents, guests, and graduates, have no fear. I am well aware that on a day of such high excitement, what you require, first and foremost, of any speaker is brevity. I shall not fail you in this respect. When we arrived at State College, all was new to us and we walked around looking up at everything in awe. As we have been preparing to leave, we were given the chance to see State College from the top of the tallest building, looking down on everything with nostalgic familiarity—inspecting the tiny people that bring State College to life, trying to imagine the countless buses we squeezed to get on, and the hours spent talking to friends....   [tags: Graduation Speech, Commencement Address]

Graduation Speech : A Speech

- Graduation is not as glamorous as everyone thinks. Sitting in the bleachers for four hours in the scalding heat with your nicest clothes on is not fun (at least for me). I would’ve had no problem skipping my graduation, except for one part. There is one segment of graduation that makes the whole thing bearable, the speech. The graduation speech plays a pivotal role in making or breaking graduation ceremony. These speeches not only serve to inspire the public, but also shapes the values of the academic community....   [tags: Commencement speech, Graduation, Want]

- Ladies, gentlemen, parents, friends, family, staff, fellow students: Instead of taking up more time and reading my speech, it is available to you at http://www.olen’s_speech.com. Thank you. No, just kidding. But seriously folks... Today we are gathered here to celebrate our graduation from 12 long years of schooling. The education granted to us has been a privilege. - For some of you graduates, this will be the last ceremony you might ever sit through. Most of us, though, and I regret that I am in this group, will sit through many more ceremonies -- ceremonies longer and more tedious that this or anything else you can imagine. If you think this is bad, try a college graduation. Think, that is, attend a wedding. And, if just for a moment you think that that is bad, just be thankful you have never attended or will attend a Bar Mitzvah. The only ceremony I think anybody would truly enjoy attending is a funeral....   [tags: Graduation Speech, Commencement Address]

- As you inhale the aggregate odor of your senior class for the last time, I’m sure there are many burning questions racing through your minds: “Will I find my place in the world?” If you’re lucky. “Am I really going to graduate a virgin?” Yeah, probably. “Who is that incredibly handsome young man addressing us, and how long do we have the privilege of listening to him?” Howdy, Andrew Gonzales here, and hopefully not long; I realize that your robes are making you sweat, your thongs are making you uncomfortable, and my use of the words “virgin” and “thongs” is making your parents sweaty and uncomfortable....   [tags: Graduation Speech, Commencement Address]

- To the County High School Class of 2012: As you sit in front of me, I know what most of you are thinking at the moment. There are those who are already pondering about what life without high school will be like; those who are debating whether or not to tell your crush tonight about your whispers of adoration you’ve secretly held for four years; some simply want to get out of that ungodly chair, get that thing that isn’t really a diploma but only tells you when to pick up the thing, and then be the first one on the green bus to the grad party — you know who you are....   [tags: Graduation Speech, Commencement Address]

- Good evening parents, teachers, honored guests and soon to be graduates. My name is Ed Burrower, I'm the senior class president. A few weeks ago, I was told that I would be speaking at graduation. I was asked to put together a speech for tonight -- I've become experienced at speech writing over the past couple of weeks. - It is probably a mistake that I am standing here giving a speech for graduation. In fact it is probably a mistake that I am even graduating from this school at all -- believe me, just as most people in this class I have tested the limits of attendance, of sleeplessness, and of procrastination. At the beginning of my high schooling, I was even testing dropping out ... and if that wasn't a mistake, I don't know what was. After four years of Starr altering our minds, it seemed most fitting for me to spend my four minutes talking about mistakes....   [tags: Graduation Speech, Commencement Address]
