Many adults and peers have had an influential impact on the person I am today. Without attending public school, I don’t believe I would have learned as much as I have about socializing with others and how to function in society. School gave me the opportunity to be part of a team in school sports and other school clubs. I learned how to work as a group, cheer and support team members. I was also lucky enough to be part of a student exchange program. This resulted in me learning how to live with another family, attend a new school, adapt to a whole new set of rules and expectations. In school, I learned and acquired more skills on how to function in large groups, respect other people, take turns, learn from others, have patience, cheer on others to succeed, comfort others when they needed it. I also learn how to talk to other adults that are not part of my family and saw how other adults should be treated. I learned how I should be treated and how other families functioned as a whole.
While attending school, I learned how to share in my peer 's successes and triumphs and witnesses th...

Graduation Speech

- After four years, we are finally gathered on the steps of what we thought we'd never come to. We are graduating, finally shedding the familiar and embarking on a world of "what's-next?" Despite that, though, today is perhaps most importantly a day to remember our past. In the entire childhood of memories that each of us has accumulated, beginning roughly when we were still young enough to believe braces are cool, some of the most vivid and influential are from this campus. The high school years are mainly those in which a person leaves off building their lives around what they have been shown, and begins to select the path they will take for themselves....   [tags: Graduation Speech, Commencement Address]

Graduation Speech

- We live in a time in which everything is categorized by lists, whether it’s a dreaded school rubric or a David Letterman Top Ten List. As the millennium turns, we are deluged with lists: the best books of the millennium, the greatest songs of the millennium, the most influential people of the millennium. Personally, I may be sick of all these lists, but no graduating class of 2006 could let this occasion slip by without one more list: The Top Ten Things I Learned in High School. So listen along and see if your experience parallels mine....   [tags: Graduation Speech, Commencement Address]

Graduation Speech : China Is Now Boarding

- “Attention please, fight 123 to Shanghai, China is now boarding.” As I walked up to my gate, I heard the announcement. It was a hot summer day, I was going back to China to visit my grandma. I haven’t been to my hometown for three years since I moved to the U.S. I was very excited and nervous, not only because I would visit my homeland, but also because I would see my old friends again. I left China for three years, at age 17, to attend high school in the United State. I grew up with my grandma in China....   [tags: Grandparent, Family, Mooncake, Mid-Autumn Festival]

Graduation Speech : Education And History Education

- Teaching is not something I have always wanted to do. Every so often when I was younger, my mom would come home extremely stressed from a long day of teaching. I told myself I could never do what she or other teachers did every day. When I reached middle school, however, I began to see that what teachers did was influential and important. They could shape their students’ future in just one class period. High school came along and so did the infamous questions about life after high school. One day, a teacher asked me what I wanted to do and my first thought was education....   [tags: Education, Teacher, South Dakota, School]

Graduation Speech

- For some of you graduates, this will be the last ceremony you might ever sit through. Most of us, though, and I regret that I am in this group, will sit through many more ceremonies -- ceremonies longer and more tedious that this or anything else you can imagine. If you think this is bad, try a college graduation. Think, that is, attend a wedding. And, if just for a moment you think that that is bad, just be thankful you have never attended or will attend a Bar Mitzvah. The only ceremony I think anybody would truly enjoy attending is a funeral....   [tags: Graduation Speech, Commencement Address]

- To the County High School Class of 2012: As you sit in front of me, I know what most of you are thinking at the moment. There are those who are already pondering about what life without high school will be like; those who are debating whether or not to tell your crush tonight about your whispers of adoration you’ve secretly held for four years; some simply want to get out of that ungodly chair, get that thing that isn’t really a diploma but only tells you when to pick up the thing, and then be the first one on the green bus to the grad party — you know who you are....   [tags: Graduation Speech, Commencement Address]

- Good evening parents, teachers, honored guests and soon to be graduates. My name is Ed Burrower, I'm the senior class president. A few weeks ago, I was told that I would be speaking at graduation. I was asked to put together a speech for tonight -- I've become experienced at speech writing over the past couple of weeks. The speech that you are hearing is the fourth one I've written, the recycle bin needs to be emptied at home and I need a new highlighter. - When they were trying to find someone to give this speech they first asked the most intelligent, smart person they could find. But she turned them down. So then they asked the most beautiful, lovely, attractive person they could find. She also turned them down. Next they asked the nicest, sweetest, kindest, most sincere person they could find. Then I decided it would be rude to turn them down three times in a row, so here I am. How many people here like tomato soup. Come on, raise your hand if you like tomato soup....   [tags: Graduation Speech, Commencement Address]
