We live in a world that is fundamentally run by the internet. We use it every day, multiple times in a variety of ways. We use it to keep up to date with the latest news, to watch movies and shows, to listen to music, do research for our latest assignment and even to simply search the latest topic our mind is wandering off to. Google is there to help with all of that. Google is a search engine that was created in September of 1998 by two Ph.D. students at the University of Stanford (Google, 2014). According to Stanford University’s web page, Google started out as just forty gigabytes that were all saved on a hard drive that was made out of Legos, that hard drive is now on display at the University. Because of the small storage that Google started with, their site was just a small twenty-six million pages, that may sound like a lot, but it is nothing compared to the thirty-trillion (Statistic Brain, 2014) that Google had in 2014.
Some people believe that Google has limited our learning and is not allowing us to learn in a customary way. It almost seems that they go online to avoid reading in the traditional sense.” (Carr, 2008). This is not true. Google gives us the ability to learn things that without the advancement of this technology, may ...

...hank for that.
This is now the way that our world functions, we are able to quickly search information and form new ideas because of this site. The way our world learns is changing, and we all need to adapt to this new way. Though some people suspect that Google is making us stupid, it is only because not all of us have become adapted to this new learning technique. We are fortunate enough to have whatever we are looking for right at our fingertips but, because of the fact that we have so much information that is so easily accessible we need to be able to absorb the information being given to us. Google can’t become a temporary source of quick information that is thrown away as soon as our thought changes, it’s a learning tool, that is allowing us to know and do more. It makes life easier for us and clears up time for the more important things in life, experiences.
