The Ghost Man It all started with a rustle in my kitchen. “It’s just my roommate waking up in the middle of the night eating goat,” I thought. Then the next day I went on a date with the girl of my dreams. Her personality sparkled like the sun on its last dying breath, and her face of holy perfection. We were eating Chinese food in my home with chopsticks and scented candles. The location was in the living room because if we ate in the kitchen my roommate would join us. I twisted the knob and swung open the door. But nothing was to be seen. I thought it was nothing and started to call my roommate Thanh. My phone rang and rang but no one was that the other end of the line. I decided to leave a message,” Hey Thanh I am on a date in the living room. Please don’t bother us like all the other dates that you drove away. But if you aren’t home by eight then there will be Chinese food in the fridge for you.” After that I entered the living room and Tiffany and I ate and laughed till I had to walk her out. The book is full of twists and turns as things quickly escalate for the governess.
The Nelly Butler hauntings is referred to as the first recorded ghost story in American history (LiBrizzi 5), and possibly the most exciting hauntings to date as there are still many unsolved mysteries. The apparition appeared on more than 30 separate occasions to over 100 witnesses in Sullivan, Maine, just over fifteen years after the American Revolution (5-6). Although the Nelly Butler apparition is one of the most convincing ghosts of all time, it was subject to suspicions of fraud. These claims turn out to be groundless as the evidence reveals the ghost to be genuine.
