Associates Degree or Bachelors?
As a senior in High School, you must think about future goals in life while entering adulthood, which have to do with choosing a career and becoming successful. Throughout my High School years I’ve always asked myself, “What am I going to do with my life?” After researching, I’ve come to realize that Detective work and Dental work strike my best interests. The average annual salary for a detective is $75,720 while Dental Hygienists earn $70,210 on an average salary. However, one requires more work than the other. In order to become a Dental Hygienist, you are required to at least have an Associates Degree, while a Detective requires a Bachelors Degree, or at least a High School diploma but in my opinion, a Bachelors degree would be more suitable for this job because you are only able to join at the age 21. Realizing that most jobs require some college education, it is an effort that I’m going to put in. Wherever life takes me depends on the hard work that I’m willing to put into my future.
The job that I am more interested in doing is a Dental Hygienist, while researching I came upon a lot of interesting facts about this career. According to the American Dental Association, “A Dental Hygienist job position is ranked number ten out of one-hundred best careers in America.” (n.pag.) Basically, the ADA is saying that it is considered one of the top careers out of most. All you need to become a Dental Hygienist is an Associates Degree, two years of classes including training. Once you do your completion for your Associates Degree, you can start your career as a Dental Hygienist right away. Jada A. Graves states, “Most in this profession have earned an Associates Degree in Dental Hygiene. And increas...

... up my dream career as a detective. Never have I ever would assumed to decide on becoming a detective, but looking upon my research it will benefit me towards my future and help me through my goals in what I want to become in life. Though a Dental hygienist is one of the top careers in the U.S. I would rather choose to become a detective because of the higher salary wage given. I had thought I wanted to become a dental hygienist more than a detective but looking upon my research I am choosing the detective career. Since you cant join the police force till age 21, after graduation I would like to go to college and complete 4 years, thus achieving my goal in getting a 4 year college degree. After that I will then apply into becoming a Detective and go into training. I will do whatever it takes to maintain the goal of becoming a detective with schooling and training.
