For thousands of years dogs have walked alongside man with loyalty, care, and friendship. Now there is the dog called the German shepherd and to me it is the most reliable of all the dogs. They have a history that is different from others, they can be trained to always stand by you, they are strictly bred to perfection, and they have done many great heroic actions. I should get a German shepherd.
The history of German shepherds is both remarkable and interesting. During the late 1890s, the first lead towards the German shepherd started. In Germany, a man named von Stephanitz had a great journey far and wide from the cold of Russia to the heat of European owned African settlements. His ideal choice for this journey was to find the highest bred dog. He considered this dog to be “athletic, and intelligent, and capable” (“German Shepherd Dog”, Dogtime). Von Stephanitz had observed various breeding areas, circuses, heroic dogs, and basic house dogs. He found many of them with the abilities but not all at once. As he walked he found that it may not be possible. Then one day he attended a circus act and a dog was presented into the room, and as the light hit it the glossy silk coat was seen as a soft black and a tough rugged brown. The show was astonishing to him, as the dog dashed and leaped with precision and showed its strong intellect with its remarkable training; he marked the dog as “impressive and fancy” (Wikipedia, ”German Shepherd”). He felt right then that this was the one that he has been looking for. They announced this dog as “Hektor Linksrhein” and after von Stephanitz bought this dog from them and renamed him to Horand von Grafath.

When people are looking for a good dog to own, most generally want the quality of loyalty. Loyalty is one of its most dominant characteristics in a Heeler, as it is very faithful to one master or a family (Viki). My family owned its first Blue Heeler when I was a baby, and now it is the only breed of dog we buy. The last Heeler my family had was named Steel. The Australian Cattle Dog was originally born in Australia. It was bred to help outback ranchers round up their cattle and to withstand the harsh outback conditions. The breed is loyal and devoted to its owner. The joy of owning an Australian Cattle Dog directly relates to the breed origin, why it was bred, the general appearance, its unique traits, simple diet and easy health care. According to Katherine Buetow in “ The History of the Australian Cattle Dog” she states, “There is continuing controversy over which breeds were actually used in its development. One of the difficulties in researching the history of this breed is that there was a lot of experimentation going on in trying to find the perfect combination of dogs to make up the ultimate heeler that could live and work in the Australian outback ”( 1).

The Australian Shepherd started out as a working dog. Today for the most part it still is, but they have entered a different type of work besides herding. The versatility of the Aussie is remarkable. Today's Aussie is an active and intelligent companion who requires stimulation and activity. There are very few breeds of dogs capable of performing as many different jobs as the Australian Shepherd. The breed's easy trainability, intelligence, common sense and problem solving abilities, combined with a medium sized build, easy to care for coat, strong will to work and incredible loyalty make for a great working and playing companion.
Pit Bull-Beauty or Beast? Are pit bulls the best breed of dogs to keep around the house? Pit bulls are the majority of dog attacks that have been covered by news stations. The news coverage has made people really nervous about these animals. People are afraid to let these dogs be around their families and friends.
Take a moment and picture a dog in your head. What do you see? You may see many different things depending on your own personal encounters with the species. There are many types of dogs out there. Some small, some large, long-haired or short-haired. There are many variances in what a dog can look like. One thing that does not change, or should not change, is the importance for every dog in this world to be given love and affection, no matter its characteristics. This is what leads me to believe that the obsession with producing and owning purebreds needs to come to a halt. Continuing to create these so-called “best dogs” is dangerous to not only the purebred’s health, but also devalues mixed breeds and can cost them their lives in animal shelters where they may never escape. My interest in this topic caused me to look into seeing what other people felt about it.
Dogs are common throughout the world, either as a domestic pet, a protector on a farm, or an assistant for hunting amongst others. Regardless of the reason for having a dog, most people have either owned one for themselves or have known somebody who has owned one at some point in their life. Despite the relative normality of having a dog in your life in one way or another, the reasons for dogs coming into existence are not common knowledge among most people. Throughout a great portion of mankind’s history, dogs have been an essential part of life. The truth is, dogs were actually created in part by man.
My report is going to be on guide dogs. In this I will show how the guide dogs are used in everyday life. I will show how they are trained to help the blind. I will show you about guide dogs and service dogs. I will also show you the dog breeds used for guide and service dogs. In this I will show you the importance of guide dogs to the disabled.

They are very loyal and protective dogs. They are extremely intelligent and can learn both numerous and various tricks in a short and fast periods of time. Some can be found to be laid back, while others can be more temperamental. These dogs are always looking for something to do and should be put in a home where they can look forward to daily activity, exercise and training. There are no perfect dogs in the world but only the most suitable dogs in our family. If we love our most faithful friends, we should not bring pain to them. If we love purebred dogs, we should take good care of them. If we do not excessive pursue purebred, there will be less genetic problems in purebred dogs. Don’t make more purebred dogs cry; don’t make more purebred puppies suffer more genetic diseases, don’t make more homeless purebred dogs, don’t make more purebred dogs die in the shelters. They have already devoted too much for us, so now, it is time for us to do something for them.
No dog is the same in the way that each breed has a different personality, color, shape, and size. When looking at these qualities and trying to determine the greatest dog breed of all time, being well rounded in each of the listed criteria should be a top priority. With this in mind, there is one breed that stands out among all the others with its strength in each category. There is no surprise that the Labrador Retriever would be at the top of the list being that they are the most popular family pet in the USA, UK, and many other parts of the world. It should also be pointed out that they wouldn’t be the most popular dog breed without valid reasons behind it. This versatile dog, with it’s many desirable traits has made them a perfect fit into the various roles of society.
