George Washington’s parents were Augustus Washington and Mary Ball Washington, his second wife. He was brought up in a modest English household. George was not sent to school because his parents did not have enough money to send all of their children to school. They were only able to send two of their sons, Augustus and Lawrence. However, George was also interested in education and saved every document ever given to him. Unfortunately, George’s father passed away when he was only 11 years old. His father was a moderately wealthy land owning man. He passed away owning ten thousand acres of land, somewhere around 50 slaves and a couple of iron forges. Augustus Washington left George a decent amount of land (Johnson, 6-7). Since he received land... ... middle of paper ... ...y in demand. He felt that people should expand and shift to wheat production, in the hopes of making more foodstuffs that was in high demand (Johnson, 42 Ellis 57). These ideas were different than the ones that were currently in place. He was a bold man to even try and think about exploring these options. In conclusion, George Washington was a very resourceful leader who was constantly thinking about ways to improve the society that he lived in. He did indeed lose many of his battles, but his ability to learn from his mistakes made him a remembered military solider and a powerful leader. He challenged the normal, and always had a positive attitude when going out to defeat his opponents which was an important aspect of keeping moral up.
