Everywhere you look we are hearing more and more about the affects of genetically modified (GMO) foods. From the first GMO tomato right down to, believe it or not, GMO marijuana, scientists are claiming changes to our food for a number of good reasons but have we really gain anything? Have we done more damage to ourselves by modifying our food or have we improved what Mother Nature had planned for us with longer lasting fruits and vegetables that look brighter, bigger and healthier? The answer is not that clear but the axiom don’t mess with Mother Nature applies here. The facts speak for themselves and the mad scientists have gotten us into a GMO pickle. The bottom line is there is overwhelming data that tells us that the public either do not want GMO products or insist on the right to have labels stating what they are about to eat, But why is it food producers not giving the customer what they want? The answer is two fold, the food producers are not listening to the consumer and the biotech industry botched the marketing of GMO to the point the consumer has very little faith in believing them along with governments and lobbyists who are self serving. We all remember the mad cow disease!
In a 2013 poll by the New York Times found that three quarters of Americans are concerned about GMO’s in their food and most are worried about the effects (Caplan, 2013). The public is educating themselves though an array of media via web base sites like Counterpunch that spell out a doom and gloom forecast of GMO food. To this end, there is great evidence that GMO’s can give incredible agricultural benefits but it’s all in vein with we cannot trust the biotech companies. We have seen to many horrible examples of scientist getting it wrong like mad cow disease. To make things worse is biotech companies are fighting labeling of GMO foods because of the backlash of consumers hysteria. This mindset of the consumers being ignorant and don’t understand, is the upmost insult. This arrogant mentality only further hurts the industry as a whole pushes consumers to never trust biotech’s and GMO’S.

They like flashing billboards that send people running in the other direction, but must people really don’t know what they are running from. They don’t know what they are, what their benefits are.
