Gap Year
A Gap Year c an be a very good idea for someone who does not have a plan for what they want to do, or they do not have enough money to start the next stage of their life. Whether or not a gap year is a good idea has been a heavily debated topic over the last couple years due to the fact that some people say if a student takes a year off, they will “never go back”.
There could be many purposes of a person taking a gap year right after high school before going into college. They could either not have enough money to go on, not be ready, or simply need a break. Whatever the reason is, contrary to popular belief, taking a gap year actually increases a students chances of graduation and following through with their chosen major. The year off provides a student with he time they need to experience what the real world would be like with an education, and also gives them time to find something they truly want to do for the rest of there life instead of just getting pushed into something right after after high school and not having a choice.
The main thing to keep in mind when a student decides to take a year off is to understand that it is not just a vacation year. They should work to save up money and if they come from a home that has enough money to where they do not have to work then they should spend them time doing volunteer work and helping those who are less fortunate than them in terms of wealth. A student wouldn 't gain anything from this year off if they were to just party it away and use it as an excuse to not get anything done or accomplish anything.
At the end of the day though, you must keep college as the ultimate goal. Part of taking the gap year should make a student notice how difficult life will be...

...nother big thing they should be prepared for is all the negative back lash they could possibly get for choosing a break year after high school. Many people love to talk about how terrible of a decision it is and how someone who does it will never go back. They must be prepared to just block all of this out and know that they are going to stick to the plan that they set for themselves at the beginning of the year and trust themselves that they will go back when that year is up.
In the end, if a gap year is right for a student, then they just need to do it and make the most of it in every way possible. With how many great opportunities there are to do with a students year off, it’s quiet easy to get confused on what they should do and the can be somewhat overwhelming, but all they need to do is just think about what they want to do most and what would fit them best.
