After a long day of work, school, or family gatherings; everyone needs a way to get away from the world. Not everyone can afford a vacation to Disneyland. Not everyone has the time to stay at a resort. Not everyone wants to go on long trips. Yet everyone still needs an escape. One of those best solutions for some is video gaming. Although, not everyone thinks about the game development process goes through. Some are just fine leaving it that way. Me however, I 'm apart of the group that wants to learn more about game development. In order to begin satisfying my curiosity, I am discovering the details of a process for the game engine known as Unity. As formerly mentioned, everyone needs an escape and I was no exception. Since I was young, video …show more content…

I knew that in order to create my game, I had to follow a process of game development. I had to create the program that controlled the program, even more programs for the intractable objects, design the scenery, and then design the character. From this I figured I would only run into minor problems along the way. As I started working the amount of problems I encountered became tremendous. Every other day I ran into one problem or another. I would solve one issue only to find another one. Past all of this, the programming was taking longer than expected. Each code I thought I would need turned out to be four individual codes for it. It became difficult to get anything simple done easily. My thoughts, however, still remained the same. I still thought that it would be amazing to finish my first actual game. The feeling was already in me, gradually growing as I completed each program. Now, from my visitation, interviews, and the experience I have gained, even if more is to come, believe I know what the world of game development is like. Some may believe that when creating a game that the idea for it came from one person’s thoughts. Along with that comes the thought that the programmers and artists are all individually separated from each other; only communicating to put the pieces of the game together. Nothing can be farther from the truth. Teams mean everything in game development. In …show more content…

If one person were to give up on an idea, that throws off the whole game. If one person decided to change a character design, it messes up everyone else 's work if one person quits or gives up on the whole game, a major setback will occur. Each person contributed to the success of the team. All parts of a project need different people to make it work. That is also why you make a game everyone can agree on. If a person doesn 't enjoy the project he is working on, less effort is put into his part. From my interview with Martin Sahlin, who worked with one other person, I could hear the truth behind it. Martin Sahlin believed that “the here is something truly special about working on a game of your own.” Most likely, his main reason for not enjoying his job at Raster Media, a game company, was due to his lack of input. He wanted to make the for his own desires and not for a company. He had truth to his statement but I believe that the main reason he didn 't enjoy making games with Raster Media was because he was not on a big team. Working with more people allows you to really clear your head on things and decreases the workload you might have on a game. It can even allow you to expand on your ideas even more and create bigger games that more people can
