Each day throughout life people learn more about themselves and about the world around them. It is everyone’s goal to acquire as much knowledge as they can because it generally leads to satisfaction in their life. Experience allows to better understand oneself and the surrounding world. Faust and Michel Montaigne highlight the importance of learning from experiences and what occurs without this learning. Because of their work, learning through experiences is known to be very effective and therefore is incorporated into many teaching techniques. Gaining knowledge from experiences helps to unlock parts of the world. In his book “Faust”, Faust focuses on how experiences, or lack of experiences, shape the surrounding world. Faust studies and becomes an expert on all that he can but yet he is still not satisfied. He says he has mastered “Philosophy…and law and medicine…theology too, from A to Z…no wiser now than when I began” (Goethe 15). Although Faust gained as much information as he could from texts, he was actually quite ignorant in regards to the real world. He did not live and enjoy life because he did not live through experiences. Instead he secluded himself from the world. He failed to apply his knowledge and in return failed to gain new knowledge from these circumstances. Because of this he was never fully satisfied. This shows the importance of finding a balance between book learning and learning from experiences. Lessons and information gained through experiences are the most effective and most powerful. Teachings through experiences cannot be replaced or mimicked and therefore serve significantly in human development and overall happiness. Experiences also help one learn more about themselves. The most valuable lessons in life often come unexpected and in situations that cannot be reenacted. Gaining knowledge about the world and about oneself comes from living life through successes and failures. These events cannot be duplicated, which is why experience serves as so influential in regards to a person’s development. Intelligence can be acquired from books, studies and school, but if a person solely relies on this, they will feel a void in their life. Successful people are well rounded and this is why many colleges and schools focus on teaching lessons through actual experiences, instead of books and lectures. Life is about living and people should realize this. The world has many lessons to teach individuals about themselves and their surroundings, and experiences are at the root of it all.
Each and every one of us learns throughout our daily lives. We learn from others and through our experiences. As we grow older and become more mature, we develop a deeper understanding of ourselves as we slowly move away from following others to constructing our own perspectives on the world around us. Self-discovery is what gives us a self-realization of what we value, care and love, and thus allowing us to affirm our values in society.
Education, it's the only thing anyone can’t take away from anyone, once it has been achieved, it encourage people to study the past and present for the future. It comes from a type of writing or an actual teacher, teaching the students something new or encouraging them to be better or create higher goals than the students thought of themselves. I believe that teaching and learning is both a science and an art, which requires the implementation of already determined rules. I see learning as the result of internal forces within the person student. I know that children differ in the way they learn and grow but I also know that all children can learn. Students’ increased understanding of their own experience is a legitimate form of knowledge. I will present my students with opportunities to develop the ability to meet personal knowledge.

Experience and Education portrays John Dewey’s critical analysis of the traditional and progressive education system. He believed that people, no matter their age, did not have an empty mind, waiting to be filled with the knowledge schools offered. Alternatively, he pushed a method of learning where students organized information based on facts by expanding on previous knowledge; such a situation implies that teachers must create an environment as to foster such an experience. Thus, the challenge they face was due to a lack of a strong philosophy of experience in their approach to education.
I think the more life lessons you get and keep is good for your self-character. They show good character about you to other people. Because you don’t want to have badly self image. Because if other people see it as a bad self image, then you will try so hard to make it look like a good self image, and that you have good character, then it will make you look self absorb.
Experiential Learning is a powerful form of learning. As stated by Lewis and Williams “In its simplest form, experiential learning means learning from experience or learning by doing. Experiential education first immerses learners in an experience and then encourages reflection about the experience to develop new skills, new attitudes, or new ways of thinking.” (1994, p.5). Learning through experience is something that each one of us do in our daily lives, often on a subconscious level. Rather than reading, viewing or thinking of how to do something with experiential learning we can learn by doing. Traditional teaching or training may not always be the best way for all students in both the educational setting or corporate setting to learn. The overall essence of education or knowledge acquisition is reflected in an axiom by Confucius which says “Tell me, and I will forget; show me, and I will remember; but involve me, and I will understand. Back then, it was clear that learning was a comprehensive process which involves passionate exchanges between students and their teachers; unfortunately this is not the case in most modern classrooms. Instead of the expected bidirectional communication between learners and teachers, in the modern learning environment there is a unidirectional system which involves the teacher incessantly hurling facts at students who, due to their passive roles as mere receptacles, have fallen asleep or; in the case of “best” students are mindlessly taking notes. This leads to a situation where knowledge has neither been conferred nor acquired.
In a person’s life, they learn from everything around them, and take in everything that they see, and learn from all of it. Hopefully, they get a good result so that they may be able to make a difference in the world around them. I feel that I have to tools to make the changes that I want, and the knowledge to know how to make these changes. I look toward the future with a bright outlook, and know that to keep learning is the key to making my bright outlook the truth. For my future and the future of people younger and older than me, education will always be the key.
When I think about knowledge the first thing that comes to my mind is education. I believe that knowledge comes to people by their experiences in life. In other words, life is an instrument that leads me to gain knowledge. Many people consider that old people are wise because they have learned from good and bad experiences throughout their lives. Education requires work, dedication and faith to gain knowledge. We acquired knowledge through the guidance of from parents, role models, college/University teachers and life experiences.
There are numerous lessons that I have learned from life, they were lessons that I learned from good and bad experiences in life. Different experiences from school and out of school that has made me the way I am today. There is a long list of experiences that in reality did not teach me much.

My time observing was not only educational for me on how to become the teacher I desire to be, but as well as how to better myself as a student and improve my own learning. I observed some wonderful learning tools that I have since implemented into my own education to develop my own learning.
