As John Fitzgerald Kennedy once said, “I look forward to a great future for America - a future in which our country will match its military strength with our moral restraint, its wealth with our wisdom, its power with our purpose.” Who knows what the future holds for America. But I personally believe that America has been a strong country when it comes to our Armed Forces. Everybody wants to believe that America will be powerful and great in the future, and if we stay on the same track that we’re on right now, we will be doing fine. We have to have a mindset that the United States will do great things in the future, then we will achieve. This upcoming presidential election will determine what future our military has. It can be anywhere in the United States, or anywhere in the world. In 2010, when Haiti had a tragic earthquake that killed almost 230,000 people and injured about 300,000 people. The United States sent 2,000 marines to help clean up and help everybody affected. There were also 19 helicopters with supplies and anything needed to help Haiti. Plus, when hurricane Katrina hit in August of 2005, 10,000 National Guards were sent to the Gulf Coast to help everybody affected. In 12 hours, they saved 9,000 people from the flooding. The levees in New Orleans were not working correctly, many people in the National Guard risked their lives going out in the flood water to save those who were caught in the flooding.
