Coming into this class I was not sure what to expect. I thought that I knew pretty much everything I needed to know about society and social relationships, but I couldn’t have been more wrong. I have always had my own personal thoughts on how people in society treat each other, but after taking this class it has allowed me to expand my opinions based on the facts that have occurred throughout history. The knowledge that I have acquired about minority groups, assimilation, discrimination, and the origin of slavery will be something that I keep with me for the rest of my life. This semester contemporary race and ethnic relations has not only provided me with a vast amount of knowledge that is going to benefit me for future purposes, but it has allowed me to understand things that I might have never thought about before.
