In this assignment I will be talking about the four legislative factors that influence health and safety in sport. On each of the four legislative factors I will be describing them in more details also I will be giving examples for each of them. Here are four legislative factors that I will be talking about:
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) 2002
• Health and Safety at Work Act (1974)
• COSHH 2002
• Health and Safety First Aid (1981) Legislative factors
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
This was created in 2002 to look after people in the work environment, the people are made to wear the right clothing for work to prevent them from any hazard at a workplace. This is very vital for my sports club because

• Also you need to make sure that they need to plan the training.
This is an important legislation because without this legislation, people could become seriously injured. As you know in the sports centre it will be full of substances. An example of this would be chlorine in the swimming pool. If COSHH wasn’t then the people in the swimming pool would die because COSHH need to make sure that they put the correct amount of chlorine in the water, if they overdo it then it could lead to skin disease on people skin. It a good thing this act is created because the amount of chlorine is controlled.
Health and Safety First Aid (1981):
The Health and Safety First Aid legislations is also an important legislation for my sports club because there will always be a first aid kit around and most possible a qualified first aider around the workplace. There is also a code of practice, which everyone can have a copy of the Health and Safety First Aid (1981) guide. Here is the stuff it tells you

An example of this would be that the manager of the sports centre has a higher duty of care because they are ones responsible for health and safety to everybody.
Statutory Law:
This law is for everybody. This is a written law that must be followed by everyone. If someone breaks these laws then they will face charges. This law ensures that health and safety is done properly.
An example of this would be that they don’t follow the law, they will face charges.
It affects the sports club because it has a swimming pool, so the chlorine levels in the water are controlled well so that nobody can be harmed that is why the statutory law is there.
Civil law:
This is where the individuals exercise their rights to seek compensations for damages or injuries. Also this is a law that is not controlled by the judges based on previous things that had happen in the past.
This law was created so that accidents on trampoline don’t happen again so that they look after the safety of people on it.
This affect my sports club because an example of this would be that the trampolines would not be allowed to use without any spotters on each trampoline otherwise there would be an risk of
1.4 – State why and when health and safety control equipment, identified by the principles of protection, should be used relating to types, purpose and limitations of each type, the work situation, occupational use and the general work environment, in relation to:
Legislation in schools is put in place to promote equality and to make sure there is no discrimination against pupils staff or visitors. Legislation makes sure children's basic needed whilst in school are met and it is a safe environment for child to learn in, with the people working in the setting having strict CRB checks against them ensuring the safeguarding of all pupils.
This Act of Parliament is the core part of UK health and safety law. It places a responsibility on all bosses and managers to make sure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and well-being at work of all their staff and workers.
The Health and Social Care Act 2008 made every health and social care service in England and Wales legally responsible for making sure it meets new essential standards of quality and safety. Ensuring that staff are supported in their role of providing care and treatment to vulnerable individuals. It states that staff must be properly trained, supervised and appraised. It also ensures that professional development for all staff and CQC requires that staff are supported and codes of practice are followed and supervisions help us to achieve this.

Victorian Work Cover Authority is used to improve occupational health and safety practices within workplaces, by monitoring and developing new procedures to reduce risks to employees.
The health and safety of employees in the workplace is protected by legislation provided under the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 (HASAWA) and its applicable regulations.
This general body is in charge of making sure all health and safety regulations are in place and are being followed in places of work and educational environments around the UK. They ultimately oversee the wellbeing of anybody at their occupational or educational setting and are able to
An example that promotes the importance of the care standards act within a hospital is if a male nurse was to start bathing an elderly schizophrenic female patient who did not wished to be touched by a male nurse then this is violating her own wishes and therefore she is not receiving a high standard of care as her views were not listened to and respected. The care standard act protects patient’s view and ensures that the well-being of the patient is being put first. This is important for the services to put the patients first as they are using the services and without them the services may not exist.
‘Health and Safety at work act 1974’ is a very important Legislation when working in healthcare as this is here to keep everybody involved as safe as possible. This has a huge contribution to health care provisions as it involves mainly everything with the job, it will include providing the right training for the certain job they do, carrying out risk assessment for service uses and the equipment used. Making sure there is a safe environment to be working and providing the correct information on health and safety. There are many policies under this one legislation for example, First Aid. Every staff member working for the NHS and in health care should all have this basic training in case needed in an emergency. The...

In today’s society, especially sporting activities involving youth and young adults, it is imperative to ensure the safety of those involved. When an individual is injured either physically, emotionally or both, there is the concern of legal action towards coaches and the association conducting the sporting activity (Wolohan, 2013). The litigious culture that Americans live under has produced a heightened awareness to avoid negligence in athletic activities through proper training and education (Wolohan, 2013). Negligence is defined as an unintended accident that has caused injury to a person or material goods without a premeditated plan of action to cause pain and suffering (Yiamouyiannis, 2008). For that reason, the

In New South Wales the organisation in relation to Occupational Health and Safety Regulation is SafeWork NSW, which falls under the umbrella of WorkCover NSW. These are both organisations created by the NSW Government and assist in administering the two main laws covering Workplace OHS. These two laws include the: Work Health and Safety Act 2011 and the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011. These two laws are often used interchangeably and represent the regulations for Workplace Health and Safety in NSW.
