NFL Football Player One of the all time great quarterbacks Michael Vick once said, I have always been an outstanding football player, I have always had uncanny abilities, great arm strength, an immense ability to play the game from a quarterback standpoint. The problem was that I wasn 't given the liberty to do certain things when I was young. The career of professional football player or job as a Football Player falls under the broader career category of Athletes and Sports Competitors. I love the sport of football. Because of the general duties in football the average of time for them playing is close to 6-7 years because of all the hard work that one has put in. The average of a professional football player salary is 1.8 million , unless …show more content…
My role model cam newton said to me that it 's all about how you handle situation and how u practice. I would say it 's prolly the most hard hitting or injuring sport. Football is football and if you 're not willing to put that hard work in u prolly would have that opinion on the sport or the career as a football player. Some natural effect of becoming a professional athlete it comes with a lot of obstacles, hate and rumors. But that sports, all they know is what the media or camera mans says in newspaper and stuff. Cam newton once said ”As a professional athlete in your mind u not supposed to do nothing that can get you out yo character, because “fans don 't know what you been through in yo life, they don 't know how you had to survive the trenches”. Before even being that professional good football player, you must attend college you cannot just enter the draft without being in college .Yes college is mandatory it 's very rare to be pick up in high school.Well in fact they have stopped it because it was getting out of hand and most athlete didn 't have that kind of education.During college one maybe getting scouted or look at.Although one may be in the draft early and athlete would have to compete in combines and do a lot of hard work to show that one is ready
biggest one, if a player is very good say in high school, then they will think that they are
College athletes have a goal that they pursue. The jump to the professional sports leagues is an accomplishment that most college athletes wanted to achieve. But most college athletes go to college and forego completing their senior year and don’t get a degree. In basketball most athletes are one and done. This means they go to college for only one year then enter the NBA draft. For the NFL players have to be out of high school for three years and necessarily don’t have to go to college.
It is becoming more and more a trend for high school and underclassmen basketball players to forgo their college eligibility to enter the NBA draft. Most professional sports have restrictions to limit mentally and physically immature players from throwing away their college education to be unsuccessful in the professional ranks. In the National Football League, NCAA football players are not allowed to declare for the pro draft unless they have been in the school’s program for at least three years. In professional baseball and hockey, although they do draft players straight from high school, they have a minor league system set up. These minor leagues allow players the time to develop and still play against an excellent level of competition. This helps their growth process so that when they get into the real big leagues, they are somewhat ready to play and be a factor.
The athlete and really the sport overall I chose to focus on throughout the course of this paper is the football player and the mindset in which he operates, while in what seems to become his natural environment and other factors which may alter that mindset in a positive or negative way. Having experience as a football player from my youth until present day helps to really analyze the mindset and thinking of this specific athlete and express through experiences my thoughts and feelings concerning my research found. Paul Bear Bryant a very well-known and respected coach for many years in the college football world once said, “When you make a mistake, there are only three things you should ever do about it: admit it, learn from it, and don’t repeat it.” This quote is an excellent example of football psychology and the type of thinking a football player must have, which is also helpful to have off the field. Mistakes are going to happen, learn from them and get better. Football is all about training the mind, which alters the behavior on the field.
The blood, sweat, pain, and tears are worth it when a hopeful college football player gets his name called by the NFL commissioner. These players selected in the NFL Draft have been through an emotional roller coaster. Their lifelong dream has finally come true through tremendous perseverance and work. Although the odds aren’t good, heavy preparation during high school and college football can land a determined football player a spot in the NFL Draft.
Football is a game of adversity and emotion. People who have not played a sport or follow one closely don’t understand the emotion behind game. They think that football is just a game, but for those who are involved with the team don’t think so. All those horrendous hours of countless preparation are for something players and coaches love. About a few years ago, a football player at the collegiate level was told that he wouldn’t be able to play another down of football again due to his banged up h...
Football is a very exciting sport to play and watch. Boys enjoy getting a touch down and kicking a field goal. People love to sit and watch their friends and family perform. Even though everyone gets a lot excitement out of it, football can be very dangerous. The danger can occur within getting tackled or just by running up and down the field. "Football is at a crossroads," says Jodi Balsam, a sports law professor at Brooklyn Law School in New York. "And that crossroads is about convincing the next generation of players and their parents that the game is safe to play and that the rewards of playing outweigh the risks." (New York Times Upfront, Charles) Football has always been a sport known for hard tackles and rough play, making injuries inevitable. Football is a dangerous sport because it can lead to problems with the head like: concussions, brain damage, and head trauma.
Different people become famous for many different reasons. Whether individuals become famous for sports, music, movies, books, or inventions, everyone who becomes famous does so for a reason. Some of these people have disabilities, but they are just as great. Deaf people are quite well known in society, as there are quite a few of them. Examples include Thomas Edison and Ludwig van Beethoven. Today, one of these people in the entertainment industry is pro NFL (National Football League) football player Derrick Coleman.
In America, football is no longer a sport but is engraved into our culture. According to SoftSchools.com, a website containing informative information on multiple subjects, The National Football League was established in 1920, quickly becoming the most watched sports league in the U.S. (“Football”). The league is composed of thirty-two teams, competing each year with the intent to play in the Super Bowl for a chance to win the Vince Lombardi Trophy (“Football”). The Super Bowl is the most watched television program in the U.S., averaging 113 million viewers each year (“Football”). With so many people watching this sport the annual revenue of the NFL is approximately nine billion dollars (“Football”). In contrast, baseball is considered to be the American sport, however, the annual revenue is only 7.2 billion dollars (“Football”). Football has now passed many sports in popularity in the United States being the favorite of thirty-five percent of all Americans (“Football”). The sport is appealing to many because the physical aspect to the game is exhilarating and keeps the fans entertained. However, the physical nature of the sport may cause the popularity but also can make the game dangerous.
The plight of athletes of color in American sports has been a well-documented and heavily conversed issue throughout society. Our treatment of these athletes was unwarranted, unfair and unacceptable, but all of that seemed to be over with pioneers such as Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier in the early 20th century and finally bringing athletes of color to the same playing field as their white counterparts. Today, we proudly proclaim that our major American sports are completely void of all stereotyping and racism that plagued them in their infancy. It is obvious that this is not true with various examples such as the Donald Sterling incident showing that there are some whimpers of outright racism remaining, but there also may be be an issue that is much more widespread than we realize. A phenomenon we now call “unconscious racism” explains that in modern society we have effectively internalized our racist rhetoric to the point where it is now subtle and almost second nature. This is especially clear in the National Football League in the treatment of black quarterbacks. These quarterbacks are subjected to harsher and often more unfair scrutiny than their white counterparts, despite their similar production, as a result this new breed of subconscious racism.
Charley Johnson is a very talented NFL quarterback from NMSU that not many people know about. Having accomplished so much, I feel that people should. Bleacher Report’s Brendan Majev, ranked him the 91st greatest quarterback of all time. He was drafted 10th round by the St. Louis Cardinals. After playing with them and the Oilers, he ended his career with the Denver Broncos in 1975. Topics gone over in this essay include his early life, his college football career, his NFL career, his army career, and his education.
In college there are hated rivals that can’t stand each other. This causes college fans to have lots of pride in their teams. College stadiums also have student sections, which take the atmosphere on game day to the next level. College players know how the fans feel. This inspires them to play their hardest, and leave everything on the field to represent their school. In the NFL, instead of playing for a team because you want to represent them, players will play for teams who offer them the longest and largest contracts. Players hold out from participating in training camp because they want a bigger contract, and some even sit out games. The NFL seems to be more like a business, and geared towards making money. NFL players holding out, and being focused on money angers fans. Not all players are like this, but fans feel that the ones like this are being
What is the most popular sport in America? The most popular sport in America would be the rugged game of football. Millions of fans wait in anticipation each year for the season to begin. The truth is the game is a very dangerous sport. It’s rooted with violence and physical aggression. Players are groomed from their youth to get bigger, faster, and stronger. Football is geared toward physical domination, get your opponent before he gets you with tackling, hitting, or by any means necessary, take them out before they take you out. Bones are broken, internal organs rupture, concussions are frequent and occasionally players die. Is the game worth the price? Is a human life worth less than monetary gain or entertainment? The answer

The training and practices required to play professional football are intense. You have to wear uncomfortable pads and helmets and endure grueling practices in the heat of the summer and you have to lift weights every day (Green 174). You have to train no matter what position you play. What’s important about is how the position works and how it contributes to the game.
