On the north end of the UWA football field a freshman cheerleader is seen with a tiger paw tattoo on her left check, an ear to ear smile on her face and a grip so tight on her pom-poms it looks as if she will never let go.
Hannah Grace takes in every face in the stands, the smells from the concession stand, the constant beats from the band but most of all, finally a team to cheer for. Being a member of an organized squad is an all new experience for her.
After being homeschooled kindergarten through twelfth grade, Grace had to make the transition into a college classroom setting and becoming a member of a co-ed cheer squad.
“I had friends in all ages in homeschool which allowed me to have the confidence to talk to everyone at UWA,” Grace said.
Grace’s parents decision to homeschool their children were not an easy one. At the time, the school district in the area was not up to the standards the family hoped for. During this difficult time, the Grace family really sought the Lord for guidance, ultimately making the choice to homeschool.
