A career development plan is a confidential and integral document created by an individual which outlines the activities undertaken during their life. Hence, a professional development plan documents goals and skills required to accomplish dreams and aspirations. Moreover, a professional development program is reminiscent of ones’ past experiences and a glance at the future. Having a professional development plan in place is critical for graduate study to keep track of one’s progression. The principal purpose of a developmental plan is to give a description of my educational and professional background as well to explore my personal goals as it relates to my profession growth and development.
Career development should begin right after the individual is hired and all on-boarding training is concluded. An organization’s corporate culture has a lot to do with the career development of their employees. It should be stated and understood by new employees what is expected of them and are by the organization to attain different positions. One way to help new hires with career development is for the organization to have a mentor program in place. For the individual, they should have already established within themselves short-term and long-term goals to avoid being stuck in a rut or becoming overworked and underpaid.
Analyzing career theory is an important task, not only as an individual but also on a large scale. If everyone has the career they are best at and enjoy above all others, the world would be a much happier place. Imagine a world where each individual viewed work as not something they have to do, but as something they want to do. Productivity would increase at all levels. Charitable foundations and businesses would be abundant. Whereas this ideal may not be fathomable at this point, if each person used this information, it would be only a matter of time before we are moving in that harmonious direction.
Placing information in context is benefit when making a decision. It is helpful to review the historical events and available information to create a picture of where to go next. The purpose of this paper is to review the personal information from the career assessments taken in HS 585 Career Counseling at Bellevue University. The review will focus on this author’s personal results. This paper will combine the assessments with the author’s personal history to provide a context for future career goals.
Upon analyzes of the thought provoking topics within the book What Color Is Your Parachute?, it is difficult to not acknowledge career planning and goal setting is a process which successful professionals all undertake in some form. The idea, however, that is most captivating is in order to succeed individuals must not only understand their strengths and weaknesses, but also possess a complete understanding of themselves as individuals. Many of the choices made by young adults regarding career are made regarding their areas of expertise or passion. While these elements should be seen as factors in career decision-making, they are simply two components of an individual.
While comparing and contrasting between my career choices as either, a video game designer, or as a computer support technician, the requirements for both, aren’t very different, The soft and hard skills required for these jobs include teamwork, communication, basic computer knowledge, and a college degree. I examine, in detail, these two careers, and while doing so, determine which of them I want to commit to.

Each individual’s career path is distinctive and depends upon the individual’s outlook, behavior, work experiences, and activities. The incentives associated with career development are universal and include increasing one’s earning potential and acquiring additional skills and abilities that are attractive to any organization. Training and development are important factors in helping individuals develop talent, motivation, and leadership skills that will contribute to a successful personal and professional career.
Career development is a continuous process of handling proactively work and changes in life in order to move forward and reach the goals set for a better future. It involves learning new skills, moving up in the position within the organization or altogether moving to new organization or even starting up a new business. A career development plan is created to set goals and how to reach these goals using your talents and skills in the working world. A five year plan is ideal to start with, as five years are enough to reach bigger goals while working for and achieving smaller goals.
The career action plan that I outlined provides a strategy that will help to steer the chosen career in the right direction by offering assistance in managing the path of my career. Also, it can assist with the skills and knowledge for the job, and how to go by reaching them. The outline helps to identify the strengths and weaknesses, so I can work towards making those improvements that need development to better the career. Career management plays important role in career development. Career management is done with involved taking some necessary steps to reach the career plan and commonly more focusing on the ability of the organization able to do for their employee to increase their career development (Werner & DeSimone, 2009). Career plan is usually able to be performed, at least in some apart, through the training program which implemented by the organization. Career management process contained four steps which are self-assessment, reality check, goal setting and action planning (refer to Figure 1 in Appendix 1).
Five years after graduation I plan to obtain a master's degree in law enforcement. Right now I'am really not sure what I really want to truly do for the rest of my life. The only thing I like doing is finding clues and figuring out the criminal in mystery books.
My ideal career would allow me to do something that interests me. I enjoy working with words and with numbers. I've also had success in the areas of technology and customer service.
