Clients need help connecting to their money and learning how to talk about and manage it. Otherwise, the familiarity of their precarious financial lives will continue to trump the potential to have, to be, and to...

...bout money before you go to help out anyone else. As a generalist practice social worker you are required to advance human rights and social and economic justice. You want the client to feel “safe” when you talk about money. You want to empower the client by teaching them how to succeed personally and financially. At this level you are taught the different way to gain your clients trust. Although financial social work focuses on “money” the techniques that are use come from an everyday generalist social workers perspective and can be used at a BSW level.
Financial social work is very important and can be beneficial to you as a social worker as well as your client. Financial problems are part of most people’s lives and need to be understood, addressed and managed and with the help of the financial social worker can learn to deal with your financial behavior change.
