The film Crash is directed by Paul Haggis. The movie is giving the audience an idea about the city of Los Angeles (L.A), the people that live in L.A, the difference in culture. This difference led to a lot of conflicts throughout the film. The film also links to worldwide in many different ways, such as racism. In the opening scene of the film we see lights flashing really fast on the screen, as the camera zooms out giving a wide angle shot, the image starts to clear out we see that these flashing lights are cars going really fast on a highway. This shows that L.A is a city of cars, many cars are going on the street, nearly everyone in the city has a car. We see that when Ria was involved in a car accident with an Asian lady called Kim Lee, then she says: “you Mexicans can’t drive.” She refers that Ria is Mexicans because there are a lot of Mexicans in L.A. later on Kim claims that Ria blake to fast, Ria says: “I blacked to fast, oh I blacked to fast”. Ria says that in a sarcasm way referring to Kim, how she can’t pronounce “I”. this is showing clear racism towards Kim. Another example of racism is Shaniqua Johnsen, a black African American woman, gets involved in a car accident. When she gets off the car and sees that driver of the other vehicle is Asian, she screams at his face and says:” Oh! Don’t you dear speak to me unless you speak American!”. This shows racism towards Asians in America first, because they can’t speak and pronounce the words correctly when they speak and second they, not Americans which makes it hard for them to live in L.A. This shows the conflict between the cultures in L.A and how Shaniqua Johnsen won’t speak to the Asian driver unless he is American. People like the Asian driver and Kim Lee and all over the world, experiencing racism but they forced to live in this society because they have kids to raise, word to run,
