Women are seen as house wives, who stay at home clean, cook, and watch the kids while the husband is at work getting money to support his family. Times have changed, we women no longer want to be seen as housewives, we are more than that and for that reason The Feminist Movement began. Fighting for equality to stand up to society. The Feminist Movement gained respect and equal rights for women all over the world. Susan B. Anthony is a very important person when it comes to talking or reading about The Feminist Movement. While men were rewarded for sexual prowess, on the other hand women suffered from a damaged reputation. Birth control gave women the opportunity to choose to deter pregnancy, this pill was introduced in the 1906. People did not agree with birth control pills, after this there was no national standard on abortion regulations, and many states had outlawed the practice, this led to many women to seek black market abortions by unlicensed physicians or to brutally perform the procedure on themselves. Women should be able to anything they want with their own body, of it does not concern or have to do with the other person, it should be no one’s business, if men can do it why shouldn’t women be able to do it also? Yes, it’s not ideal to be doing this sort of thing, but it’s all up to the woman to do what she wants with her body. in 1994, Congress enacted the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), which responded to the inadequacies of state justice systems in dealing with violent crimes against women. This act was created to assist on making violence against women a violation, to help women victims of violence access to federal courts. The Feminist movement is not just one subject it ties up everything women have fought for and are fighting for. Without these women fighting for us we wouldn’t be where we are today. Thanks to women such as Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton we wouldn 't have the same rights as mean and be treated equally. This movement made history and it’s still making history until this very day.
