The first script play that we’ve discussed is Oedipus Rex. Each classmates expressed their opinion about one of the three characters, Oedipus, Jocasta, and Creon, and how their action are either fated and free will. My opinion about fate and free will is solely based on Oedipus. However, his fate was in King Laius and Jocasta’s hands and they had a chance to change it. The prophecy is based on action throughout the person’s life and will affect others as well.
To summarize of what was going on in the Oedipus play. King Laius and his wife Jocasta knew about the prophecy of the child who will kill the father and sleep with his mother. Jocasta tried to change the fate by abandoning the child, Oedipus, and left him for death, in the mountain. However, Oedipus was discovered and adopted by the King of Corinth. When he got older, he learned about his prophecy and decided to leave Corinth for Thebes. On his way there, he had an alternation with an older, wealthy man on a crossroad that lead to murdering him.
