Final Paper: Family First
The influence of the family is not quite clear. It takes a deeper investigation and reviewing of the film in order to take a side. I believe that family plays a big role in shaping the mind and characters involved in these famous films because we as children are shaped by what we see our parents do, they shape and mold our behavior. In this essay I evaluating my opinion by exploring the main importance of family influence in the characters’ lives in the film: The Godfather.
The first film of the trilogy tells of a traditional American family, more precisely from New York who, like many immigrant families, struggle to maintain the traditions of their country of origin

He starts following firm and strong in a style and way of thinking (boy full of good principles that had just won a government medal for his honor and participation in the 2nd war) which then, to protect your beloved father, changes completely Entering head in a world that he swore not be yours. This sudden change is also part of a big move (master Francis Ford Coppola, director), changing the protagonist of the first film: Marlon Brando stars as protagonist, being so famous Don Vito Corleone, while Al Pacino was just (not so just so) the son of Vito and protected in the course of the plot there is a change in the roles. When Michael Corleone finally becomes the Don Corleone and the Godfather, Marlon Brando, has its modified role, becoming the protégé of his beloved son, and the best - without reducing some of the significance of their …show more content…
In fact, a man is recognized for his actions respectful and the saga shows how difficult it is to respect, even if it is based on blood in order to understand how far we could go. When it comes to The Godfather, remember how I related with the fact of becoming a man. Today I see that the film is as much about family issues as a mafia movie. The family, for those characters, was more important than anything, about to lose his composure and make retaliation using the law of retaliation. Despite the violence, The Godfather is primarily a film about the power of loyalty and love in the Corleone family and the community in which they
Apollo Creed destroyed his opponents in the ring. Being the son of such of a boxing legend, Adonis Johnson, has a lot to live up to. “Creed”, is a 2015 film directed by Ryan Coolger. Glory was what Adonis craved, so he chased it to the city of Philadelphia, the home of his father’s most infamous defeat. One of the many sequels to the, ‘Rocky’, films, ‘Creed’, champions the idea of how sport can develop an individual into a hero, someone to inspire the masses. This film portrays Adonis’s struggle to become as great as his father was. Alone, Adonis would not succeed, so he seeks the help of Rocky Balboa. A partnership develops between them; raw talent soons matures into a lean, fighting machine. When the world champion, ‘Pretty Ricky’ Conlan, challenges Creed because of his father’s extensive legacy, Adonis sets out to prove that he isn’t in his father’s shadow. Skill, strength and stamina are qualities he sets to prove he has, that he is more than another famous name.
The Godfather is most notably one of the most prolific films of its time. This "gangster" film displayed many transformations of permeating color to give the viewer observable cues in its mise en scene that drew one right into the movie. The dramatic acting set the tone of the film with a score that lifted the viewer right out of their seat in many scenes. The directing and cinematography made The Godfather ahead of its time. The nostalgic feel of family importance and the danger of revenge lets us into the life of the Mafia. Even though no other techniques would have given the viewer a feeling of inside the mob like the mise en scene of the power the godfather held, the characters are reinforced literally and figuratively because the story views the Mafia from the inside out, and the cinematography of the film gives it a dangerous and nostalgic feel.
The Godfather is the “dark-side of the American dream story” (Turan, pp2). The film follows the practices of a fictional Italian mafia family, the Corleone’s. Though most Americans do not condone the practices of the Italian mafia, they cannot deny that Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather is a cinematic masterpiece. This film gave insight to a mysterious way of life that the average person does not have knowledge of. As the audience is educated about the mafia they also are introduced to many stereotypes.

Upon its release, it instantly became an American classic, one to be remembered and celebrated for years to come. According to Vincent Canby's New York Times review published before its theatrical release, on March 16, 1972, "Francis Ford Coppola has made one of the most brutal and moving chronicles of American life ever designed within the limits of popular entertainment."
Family is one of those words that have a significant meaning to various individuals. Family may be viewed one way to an individual and another way to someone else. Family consists of those who have played a particular role in one’s life, whether it is positive or negative. In this paper, I will assess Reymundo’s family both nuclear and extended and speak of how his family has become significant in his life and how they have played a role in his decisions. I will also speak of my personal reactions to the story as well as address ways that as a social worker I could work to impact the gang problems in Orlando.
Confucius and Lao Tzu were two highly known scholars in Ancient China. These scholars with their intellectual writings changed the views of the Chinese people. After watching My American Girls, I realized the advantages and the disadvantages that immigrants face in the United States. The Ortiz family were first generation immigrants, from the Dominican Republic. The film really emphasized on the compromises many immigrants face when pursuing the American Dream. The film also gave an in-depth analysis of the daughters, who are caught between their parents values that descend from the Dominican Republic and their own. The film encompasses the paradoxes of cotemporary immigrant life.
In the Chinese culture they value many things and have many rights. “Benevolence, the core value of Confucianism, extends from the
I believe the reason that, 'The Godfather', is such a great film is because it lets audiences decide whether they like the characters or not. Too many movies made about organized crime begin with some seemingly random act of violence. 'The Godfather', however, lets it be known from the start to judge the characters in the film based on what type of person they are instead of the criminal activities they may engage in.
A genre is a type or category of film (or other work of art) that can be easily identified by specific elements of its plot, setting, mise en scène, character types, or style. (Goodykoontz, 2014) The gangster film is a sub-genre of the broader genre of crime film. A genre main objective is to classify the depiction of entertainment. The genre of my movie is a gangster film. My movie I chose was Scarface. Directed by Brian De Palma. An update of the 1932 film, Scarface (1983) follows gangster Tony Montana and his close friend Manny Ray from their trip on the Cuban Boat Lift for refugees to their arrival in Miami. (Scarface, 1983a)
Ever since I watched ‘The Good, The Bad and The Ugly’, I have absolutely adored Clint Eastwood. For more than 53 years now, Clint Eastwood has entertained us and mesmerized us with his acting, but that’s not where the old guy stopped. For the last 37 years, in his avatar as a director, he has given us some of the most enduring movies ever written. Million Dollar Baby, Mystic River, Unforgiven, Letters from Iwo Jima – just a few of the many brilliant movies Clint has directed. Gran Torino, is perhaps, one of his best works as a director, as well as an actor. Gran Torino is a story of strange bedfellows coming together for even stranger reasons. It’s a story of bigotry, a story of hatred and a story of redemption. The character of Walter Kowalski, once again establishes Clint Eastwood as an American icon –this time as a beer chugging, racist, angry Korean War veteran who thinks the world he fought for is going to hell. The retired Detroit autoworker, Walter Kowalski, is cantankerous and forever has a scowl etched on his face. He finds it difficult to connect with either his sons or his grandchildren. The movie opens with Walter Kowalski standing by the coffin of his wife scowling and evidently furious with all the people present there as well as the ridiculously young priest. Walter’s anger stems from the fact that his two sons and their children did not seem to take the funeral seriously. The granddaughter is dressed snobbishly and even sends text messages during the funeral.
According to Chinese tradition, Confucius or also known as Kong Fu Zi was a thinker, political figure, educator and the creator of the Ru School of Chinese thought. His teachings outlined the demeanour of the ideal man, how individuals should live their lives, interactions with others, society values and ideal governments. If you had all these qualities you were classified as the most ideal man. All these were preserved in the Lun Yu or Analects. Fung Yu-Lan compares Confucius' influence in Chinese history with that of Socrates in the West. In East Asia there were many philosophers but Confucius was thought the greatest. His writings which cons...
Recently there has been an increase in movie adaptations of popular books. Novels from new teen fiction to classics are finding their way on screen. When the public hears their favorite book is being brought to life by Hollywood, excitement swells inside them. When the movie is revealed however the fans are let down because the story line has been altered in some way. Sometimes the sequence of events is out of order, an awesome scene is eliminated , or the cast just does not live up the characters in the original. The audience is constantly disappointed. They can't understand why Hollywood would mess up a story that is literally written for them. While many people believe that directors and screenwriters are unjustified in altering the movie, they actually have many reasons for making changes in the adaptation.
Confucius created a system of thinking called Confucianism. If only one word could be used to summarize the Chinese way of life for the last two thousand years, that word would be Confucian. No other person has had as great an effect on the life and thought of the Chinese people as Confucius. He is the most adored person in Chinese history. Confucius claimed no greatness, instead he looked to a past time that he saw as the golden age. He told one of his disciples, "I transmit but I do not create. I am sincerely fond of the ancient. I would compare myself to Old P'eng who was fond of talking about the good old days." Confucius was a transmitter of the wisdom of the past. From his study of Chinese tradition, he gathered the teachings that would influence people throughout time to the present. Despite the fact that Confucius lived in a time of turmoil, his philosophy emphasized an ideal society filled with order and harmony.
