Oral communication provides fast speed and feedback when conveying a message to a person or a group of people. The problem with oral communication is that when you begin to pass a certain message thru many people the message is distorted. In the article oral communications is the method that is used in face to face communications. Although, face to face uses oral communication it does not suffer from the disadvantage provided from this form of communication. The book provides a breakdown of what nonverbal communications is which is used highly in face to face communication. When a verbal message is received it contains a non-verbal attachment that is received by the person in which you are talking to. Nonverbal messages are not always attached to verbal messages so they are created directly or indirectly. Both the article and the book provide an explanation on how we are able to read nonverbal cues. Unconsciously are body sends messages that provide information that explains our current state of mind. The book explains how body movements communicates emotions that are within us and we merely attach spoken words to that nonverbal cue. This relates to the article because it helps us understand why we try to imitate the end user who is talking. We are trying to understand the emotional context that his nonverbal cues are sending so we try to repeat
Communication is exchanging of information and this can be through speaking, using some mediums or writing. As technology advances so does the mode of communication and communicating becomes easier and faster. Communicating is also a means of sending and also receiving of information and there are computers and one of the latest technological advancements skype and satellite televisions. The act of one person giving the information he is the sender while the other person is the receiver of the message. It is not a guarantee that the receiver will decode the message the right way, and this can be shown by the action the receiver takes after receiving the message. Therefore, the sender must encode the message in a way that he has to make sure that the receiver decodes it the right way. The message can be use of words, behaviour to express the information, sounds or signs and these are all to express an ideas, feelings or thoughts.
Interpersonal communication is a process which people exchange information, feeling and meaning through verbal and non-verbal messages (Skills You Need 2015). It is an interactive process which face-to-face contact is made. With the expansion of technology however this form of communication is devolving (Salem PJ, 1983) and rapidly becoming an after though in today’s technological society. Doctor Paul Booth of DePaul University of Chicago says “There has been a shift in the way we communicate; rather than face-to-face interaction, we are tending to prefer mediated communication” (cited in M Keller 2015, line 9) however Booth
Virtual teams differ from face to face teams in the aspect of communication. Face to face teams work with each other on a daily basis, gaining a full understanding of each individuals full personality. While virtual teams communicate through messaging and webcam, creating a bit of a communication hardship. In a virtual team the leader portrays a message and relies one his or her follower to understand and complete the task or ask for additional assistance. With a face-to-face team the leader is physically there to read his or her followers body language and visually see if a follower is
Face-to-face conversation gives people the feeling of being wanted and accepted. They feel as if the person talking to them is actually interested and wants to talk. Text messaging makes it difficult to read if the other person’s responses are out of kindness, or genuine interest in the conversation. Real conversations are more personal because many factors come into play. Firstly, body language can greatly improve a conversation. Expressing good body language shows the other person that they are interested and paying attention. It also shows respect. On the other hand, signs of boredom or inattentiveness can ruin a conversation. Secondly, tone of voice can either enhance or destroy a conversation. When someone says something in a jokingly manner, others usually do not take them serious. But when speaking face-to-face, listeners can tell if they are serious about their statement or not.
In the past three hundred years communication has changed so much that sometimes it is hard to imagine. We have gone from hand written, hand delivered letters in the 1700’s to text messaging and face time. Humans naturally strive to make things better, to find easier ways of doing things. Communication has gone from only spoken messages to, written, typed, and then electronic.
sender and the other is the receiver. The importance of communication is how the sender expresses

The methods of communicating for a virtual team consist of different tools than used by a traditional team because “…awareness of others’ activities is more difficult and requires some degree of technological intervention” (Fussell et.al., 1998, p. 276). A virtual team needs to use alternative tools because it has members working from different geographical areas and possibly at different times. A traditional team meets face to face, whereas a virtual team needs the use of technology to operate and interact efficiently. Teleconferencing, video conferencing, faxing, e-mail, and instant messaging are some of the tools available to a virtual team.
Each mediums of communication have its pros and cons while each person has her own communicating habits too. To me, purpose of the interaction is the most important considering factor. For example, are we informing, requesting or apologizing? I would choose the most effective medium of communication depending on different situations, For example, if I are going to inform somebody about the details of an events (time, date, venue), I use messages as the details can be clearly listed without any human errors like mishearing or misunderstanding. We can also check the information again through conversation record if we forget it, so it prevents other from forgetting where and when they should go; but if someone is asking me for advices on a problem she met in daily life, I would prefer phone calls so that I can feel her emotion more accurately not only through words but also through tones. Choosing the right communication method is very significant as it helps us to deliver message clearly in an appropriate tone and communicate in the best way to attain our
Since the beginning of the time the most primary method of communication has been the face to face communication. In fact, for an extended time, face-to-face communication was the only method ever used. As the time passed many new methods came along with the use of letters, telephone calls, and emails. Even though with the improvements in such type communication, nothing like other types of communication has been able to change or replace the face-to-face method. Face to face communication is better than any other types of communication because it allows one person to recognize the facial expressions of another, you can tell whether if the person is telling the truth or not and it allows one person to express his/her feelings towards the person.
