I would like to do the research paper in the external environment analysis before decide to open the Disney theme park in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Johor Bahru is the capital city of the Johor state of Malaysia. Johor Bahru city receives about 16 million tourists annually (Wonderful Malaysia). Johor is connected by two bridges with neighboring Singapore country, which bring Johor into the biggest financial center in Malaysia.
Malaysia is a highly multicultural country such as Malaysians, Chinese and Indians. That’s mean they all have different rules to do the business in Malaysia. Malaysia is a high power distance, collectivistic society, masculinity, low uncertainty avoidance, and future orientation (Geert Hofstede). Malaysia is a Muslim country, so men and women do not shake hands with the same sex because they believe into physical touch between sexes might be seen as inappropriate. For business meeting avoids making an appointment on Friday because this is a day for Muslims to pray. Malaysian culture refers to treating the senior persons with high respect (Just Landed). Malaysia is a very diverse country, so Disney needs to understand firmly of foreign consumer lifestyle to make the right decision for management styles. Disney mission statement is “the happy place on the earth” so every kid much loves it. Disney in Malaysia mainly focuses on targeting the children, parent and young adult from all over the Asia countries such as China, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and Singapore. The Asia countries are family oriented so they will love to have a new theme park will be open for them to relax and spend vacation time with their family. Malaysia is a country that can lead to success for The Walt Disney Company because Malaysia is a country easy to do the business. At the same time, Malaysia is also a country with a growing economy, so they are willing to take advantage to create more opportunities for foreign companies investing to help the country 's economy become development stronger. Johor Bahru is also a city with a sizable number of tourists visiting each year, and the majority of visitors came from Singapore. Johor Bahru is also quite a good climate favorable to Disney can open the whole year to be able to make the highest profits for the business.
